There’s a speech in Hamlet where, to articulate it, it’s a question: How could you have gone from this to this? How could you have gone from something so great to something so rank?
Whenever I’ve looked over this speech I’ve always seen it as metaphor of American constitutional government and democracy. How could we have gone from government by and for the people to by and for the corrupt (and those willing to be corrupted in order to become part of them)?
As you may or may not know, 80%+ of all votes cast in this upcoming election will be cast upon proprietary source code. Meaning we actually have no way of knowing whether the vast majority of results are true and valid. Transparent elections and a free society are one and the same, we can’t have one without the other. Seeing how two private corporations tally eight tenths of all votes, and all behind closed doors, we currently have neither.
