If you are like me, you have heard vague references in the media to "waterboarding" without really understanding what the practice involves. You may have heard that it is an interrogation method that stimulates the feeling of drowning.
I heard a former service member on the radio a couple days ago describing what it was like when he had been waterboarded as part of his SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape) training in the military.
It sounded like torture to me.
