Is that kid in "Foward" a fundie home schooler?

While we're on the topic of coded messages, here's one for you. I'm probably just being paranoid, but it struck me that the kid in Bush's "Forward" ad might be a home schooler. And to Bush supporters, that means FUNDIE home schooler.

Take a look at the screen capture.

He's working at home (you can see the kitchen table in background) on his iMac as the narrator talks about education reform. It's during the day time, when he should probably be at school. Is this subtle sop to the (mostly) fundie home schoolers?

Like I said, I'm probably just being paranoid, but ad messages are all in how they're received. I wonder if this is a coded message?

Here's a question for ya -- why doesn't John Kerry have a victory bat up?

It's not like his campaign doesn't know how to do it . They had victory bats up after winning the previous big contests. And it's not like he doesn't need the money. In fact, now that he's matched against Bush, he needs more money than ever.

Another interesting tid-bit: I got an email from a reporter that said the Kerry campaign is claiming to have broken the elusive John McCain online fundraising record: $1,000,000 in 24 hours. Dean got close (about $800,000) but never managed to pass it. Good news if true! But why not flaunt it and extend the success with a bat? Say, $5 million.

Also, I bet you this has a GREAT deal to do with the MoveOn PAC email that went out today urging people to donate to Kerry. It was a team-raiser URL, so maybe we'll get to hear how successful the email was.

Guess what? The brazen political manipulation and exploitation of 9/11 -- America's largest intellegence failure -- is starting even sooner than I thought it would.

At least one of George W. Bush's first ads will use images from 9/11.

The ads have been released to the press, but I haven't found any transcripts or downloads yet. I will be following this on my site but I wanted to get a quick diary out to Daily Kos users ASAP.

This is a caucus report from Minnesota 5th district, Ward 10, precinct 7. It was my first caucus. The following numbers are from memory and are approximate.

Kerry (approx)
Kucinich (!)
Edwards
Dean

I was suprised Kucinich ran so strong here; He had more support than I thought. But this is the urban core in one of the Democrat's safest Congressional districts (Sabo).

Thirty-five senate district delegates were selected. There was no subcaucus required (we had to recruit people to fill the 35 slots). I am an SD delegate.

A number of resolutions passed, including one for instant runoff voting, voter-verified electronic voting, anti-Hate Amendment, ending homelessness...

I thought the resolutions were the most interesting. I signed up to be on the resolution committee for the senate district convention.

The Dean revolution continues. We will take back the party.

Bush buys $3.6M worth of ads in swing states

It's starting.

President Bush bought $3.6 million worth of campaign ads on cable TV. The ads start on March 4th. About half of the money is going to Fox channels (Fox News and Fox Sports).

I wonder why Bush is spending so much to advertise to his base. Maybe their polling shows them weakening there?

The ads will be positive and talk about Fearless Leader's great accomplishments. They might actually going to try to run on his record! If anyone sees a copy, please email tips@bushout.tv. Thanks!

It seems that the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing over at CJR's Campaign Desk.

Campaign Desk features a column called Echo Chamber that regularly berates journalists for spouting CW and using puns. Recent entries bash journos for using political terms like "base" and wacks them again for using Nader puns. Bloggers are criticized for "Nadir" puns.

Meanwhile, the rest of the CJR blog relishes in the punny goodness, with titles like Knot In My Backyard, Beating Around Bush, and Getting Kerry Wrong on Gay Rites. And that's not to mention the same post that hits bloggers on "Nadir" puns is called Ralph Wiggs'um Out

The trouble with moralists is that they're no fun.

P.S.: Just got back from San Francisco. Civil society seems to be holding on in face of the dreaded homosexual onslaught, but you can feel the tension boiling just beneigth the surface. As Gov. Schwarzenegger so astutely points out, the gay marriages must be stopped before rioting breaks out in the streets.

FEC votes 4-2 to limit soft money expenditures

The FEC has voted 4-2 to approve the "Weintraub draft". As I read it, the Weintraub draft forbids the use of soft money for GOTV, fundraising, or ads that "promote, support, attack or oppose" federal candidates. This is big news. It means that liberal 527s like ACT and the Media Fund will not be able to use unlimited donations to fund anti-Bush activities. The blog Soft Money Hard Law is there live at the FEC hearings, blogging away.

Hi everyone.

I just rolled out a new design for my campaign ad blog (details here).

The goals where to make the site more attractive (my friend designed the IMHO cool new logo) and easier to use.

Well, did it work? Take a look and tell me what you think. What you like, what you don't like, what crashes your browser. I'm heading off for bed now, but I'd love to wake up to some nice feedback tomorrow so I have something to do at work...y'know, besides work.

A Different Take on Toricelli

Last night, everyone (including me) focused on the connection between former Senator Toricelli (now raising money for John Kerry) and the odious anti-Dean 527 Americans for Jobs, Healthcare and Progressive Values.

Today, I'd like to talk about something else: The fact that Toricelli is raising money for Kerry. Kerry must be hurting for cash if he's willing to stoop so low as enlisting Toricelli.

Senator Kerry, if you are going to be our nominee, you must dump this guy immediately! Toricelli is so dirty, so sleazy, so corrupt that he is radioactive.

Senator Kerry, unless you want to see attack ads with your face plastered next to the most corrupt Democrat ("...John Kerry claims he's against special interests, but he took money from Senator Robert Toricelli, censured by the Senate..."), you've got to get rid of this guy.
