It strikes me as both disrespectful and simplistic to confidently predict that African Americans, or Latinos, or any group really, will all do this, that or the other thing. I get that there are records, polling data and so on that support such thinking and that there is some degree of truth in it, but it ignores the fact that people aren't all that predictable and are in fact extremely complex beings – whatever race they may be. A true and complete picture of any given people in all of their depth and complexity at a given moment in time is a difficult thing to achieve with any degree of accuracy, or so I would reckon. We over-simplify reality in order to grasp it, but that doesn't change its tricky nature. That's why relying on the conventional wisdom is such a poor substitute for thinking on one's feet, or thinking for one's self.
