    I worked at the Waterloo bakery in '90-'91, part-timer mostly in the wrapping room (right by shipping, of course).

    And my dad was at the Waterloo bakery from about '60 - '90, so he surely knew Bluebarnstormer's father-in-law and father-in-law's father (I may have as well - my dad's "generation" there was a pretty close group).  

    It is an old building, predating Continental, I believe.  The past few weeks is perhaps the longest stretch of time there has been no baking there in many decades, I would guess.  When I was there, it mostly baked short runs of specialty breads (part-timers always got the raisin bread runs on Saturday and Tuesday mornings, the first run of a new cycle after shutdown for maintenance/top-to-bottom cleaning).  And we shipped a lot of stuff to MSP and Rochester as store brands.

    Needless to say, Hostess has been on my mind a lot lately.
