  •  I am sick at heart over this cave (19+ / 0-)

I told my wife days ago that I wasn't sure I could trust Harry Reid to really follow through on real reform, he was too much of a "Senate guy", a guy who  loves the power and traditions of the Senate, EVEN AT THE EXPENSE OF ACTUALLY DOING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE'S BUSINESS.. Looks like I was right. When I read the HuffPost story that quoted a Dem staffer as saying that speeding up some Senate business and getting some nominations voted on sooner was "all Reid really wanted" all along, I could only nod in resignation.  All HARRY wants is all that's important, to hell with the American people and actual representative government.

Hell, he even sold out his very first negotiating stance, that OF COURSE we should get rid of the first motion to proceed step, "Just get rid of it!" he yelled on the Senate floor. But the final watered down version is even THAT is subject to "IF groups of Senators from each party agree, or IF both sides get to add amendments"? Galling.

We need a Lyndon Johnson in the Senate, someone who is ready to twist arms in his own party to get the right things done. Harry, you're no Lyndon Johnson. Not even close.
