  •  After 40 Years of being Right About Fear over Hope (4+ / 0-)

I'm still right about the reason to fear for this year.

But I'll cede you this. Only after what this year brings will I come back to state the position I hold tonight.

We are called to speak for the weak, for the voiceless, for victims of our nation and for those it calls enemy.... --ML King "Beyond Vietnam"

I protested the Vietnam war in high school.
I thought by now we would have a cure for cancer. It hasn't happened anymore than world peace.

This peacenik has a son that fought in both Afghanistan and Iraq, so much for world peace.

Since I haven't gotten World Peace or the cure for cancer, I would like to see the name liberals come back as something other than a swear word. I can't believe that we have given up our identity over the last 40 years. The Republicans  scream that they want smaller government and low taxes, that is their identity.
They are proud to be conservative. They are on the talk shows telling everyone that the public is center right yet poll after poll says differently, but nobody is on to counter act the Bull Shit. Meanwhile the liberals  have run away from the name liberal. We are now progressives

We need to stand up and be proud to be liberals like Republicans are proud to be conservative.  We need to take back the word liberal and be as proud of it . The right is proud to be far right, we need to be as proud to say we are the left.

that meme is still alive, that to be a leftist means you support wholesale actions that degrade, pauperize, murder

most people aren't educated enough to know that such ideas are false and that their fear of the left is cultivated by the owners

but the spirit of the left has never yet disappeared, and there is some reason to think we may yet prove useful
