  •  I remember years ago reading in one of the (4+ / 0-)

    women's magazines how Mother Theresa was brought to the attention of the world in a concerted PR effort by the Caltholic Church to 'push back' against the growing 'women's movement.  

    The image of her presented was that of a self negating person obedient to the male authority of the church, requiring very little for herself to live on, but doing great things for the poor and ill.  

    The opposite of the 'women's movement' heroines, who thought for themselves, worked for themselves, demanded parity, were often disobedient of male authority, and lived by themselves in independence.
