  •  OMG! Little rec'd you, proving the diarist's point (3+ / 0-)

It's hilarious that Little is one of the recs! He/she believed you without even a source link because... they wanted to believe you.

I found tons of links attributing the quote to The Buddha. Yet I could find nothing credible to back up your "Carrie" claim and you have offered none.

    Priceless.

what I did: googled "revenge quote carrie fisher"

as a former Buddhist, I strongly doubt the Buddha said anything like that. He wasn't into witticisms, actually.

      •  sorry the links are messy (1+ / 0-)

I have never posted links on this site and don't quite have the hang.

        •  Your pages won't load. But you're wrong anyway. (0+ / 0-)

I did find a site that questioned whether it was a Buddha quote by a person who also stated they had read a lot of The Buddha.

That person doesn't have definitive proof of someone else saying it. Merely, like you he said it was a paraphrase of  the statement.  He thinks it attributable to Emmit Fox in the 1930''s.  Another person thinks it's goes back to St Augustine, who supposedly said something similar.

Several versions of the quote have in fact been around since long before Carrie Fisher was born.  So that pretty much rules her out as the originator, paraphrased or otherwise.

I really appreciate you returning and attempting to post source links.  The tone of your reply to the diarist was rude and condescending. And you were wrong as to the origin.

Nevertheless  I give you many points for coming back with links. It changes the perception I had of you in a good way.

          Thank you.

      •  You last "think exist" link does work. (0+ / 0-)

The others only show the Http part.

        Think exist also says this:

“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.” Buddha quote
Which sounds pretty much the same as the anger quote.  The site I mentioned in my reply to you below lumps both of these quotes together as the same paraphrased quote and disputes The Buddha as the author.

I really enjoyed reading the Buddha quotes on Think Exist and the "Fake Buddha Quotes" site.  Thanks for conversation!

    •  "Without even a source link." (0+ / 0-)

I am going to die laughing.

      •  I know. It's hilarious that you believed it. Good (0+ / 0-)

to see you've still got your sense of humor.

But maybe you should read this diary. It's all about people who read things online and jump right on board, cause they're all emotion, sans facts.

Or you could put down the shovel. That however would require some discipline. And you are rather hysteria-bound in this diary.

        So please... do proceed.

        •  The fact that you and some others have made this (0+ / 0-)

a hate hardon about me says a lot more than you realize, I think.

P.S. The character said to be "The Buddha" is believed to have lived more than 2,400 years ago. (I studied him in India for a time, just as a side note.) As you might know, he left no written records, and everything - everything - said to be said by him is purely conjecture. Which is why I found your comment about a "source" humorous.

Have you seen this diary? It's really good.

          •  The fault lies with you. You are the only one who (0+ / 0-)

could have changed the outcome for yourself.  If you want to play the victim here and hand over your power to everybody else, then I presume that works for you.

The source link I requested was in regards to Carrie Fisher being the originator, which was the poster's claim. See, from my perspective the original statement re Carrie was ludicrous. I didn't see how anyone could definitively say that Carrie Fisher originated it.  In light of  the subject of the diary, making said statement to put the diarist down,  well my reply wrote itself.

Viewing it from your perspective, I see your point. And why you found the request funny. Unfortunately you only see your own perspective. You can't see the diarist's. So you put the diary down. This diary wasn't about you and you should have left it that way.

Just because you can't empathize with their experience, doesn't mean it's worthless.
