  •  Imagine if rebels, some of them (7+ / 0-)

    radical Islamists and members of Al Qaeda, were staging a violent uprising in a U.S. allied Middle Eastern country ruled by a dictatorship. Would people still be demanding that something be done?

    And if that regime committed human rights abuses in response to the uprising, would there be pressure for the U.S. to bomb their country in retaliation?

    Let's stop pretending this is some natural obligation of the U.S. to act as the enforcer of world law, and admit that it's largely political.
