Best (on a shitty topic) that I could come up with on such short notice.

How people might resist the thought of erring on the side of caution and the Constitution makes no sense to me.

Given the global attention being paid to this incident, what's the likelihood of immediate additional CW attacks, at least in the period of time prior to Congress being able to address it, I wonder?

Impossible question to answer, I know. I just can't help but hope, naively perhaps, that the attention being paid to this might be a deterrent, in and of itself.

There's no excuse for not running this by Congress first.

Somebody has to do something, and it's just incredibly pathetic that it has to be us. ~ J. Garcia

Americans agree with us. I distrust the NBC poll (or at least, I think the mechanics of that poll need to be compared to the mechanics of the Reuters poll of 5 days previous) but the other poll on going to war in Syria is even more strongly against it, so I think we can safely assume that at least 79% of our fellow citizens agree with us.

I don't know if the Beltway folks give a shit, these days, but at least we know most of the country has not lost its mind.

The party of Kennedy is also the party of Eastland. The party of Javits is also the party of Goldwater. Where is our party? Where is the political party that will make it unnecessary to march on Washington?
