Have to say that Christie's tenure as a NJ Governator may be ending with this latest revelation.  Totally agree that once your rich patrons and crime partners get nervous they abandon you and jump ship.

What we are seeing here is that the current crop of Republican operatives use their office to enrich the wealthy at our expense.  Sitting in traffic for hours, preventing ambulances from getting us to the ER and even threatening to with-hold relief money if we don't turn over public lands to rich supporters isn't beneath them.

The real question for Democrats is why do we not stand up to these bullies?  Why didn't the Democratic Party support Buono's claim of what is turning out to be a major corruption scandal for a sitting Governor?

The jig is up for Christie.  But it is also up for  Democratic leaders who won't fight back, run candidates to take back our House and are aware of this type of corruption taking place in our State Houses around the country.

Crooks, Corruption and Cronyism.  Who knew these would be the major campaign themes for 2014.

"thick as thieves" is the slogan I'm thinking of here.
If Christie goes or is tossed out, it will be impossible to take the position that there is no 'there' there. It will be incumbent on the feds and the press to dig it all up, and without Christie there to misdirect, obfuscate, and bluster, there will be no focused defense of the criminals behind the governor. There will be no ability to cover up the coverup.
For now, their best play could well be to publicly back the guy while the shredders are working overtime and laundered money is being rewashed.
