The Editor works with the Newsroom as part of the Content Division to structure, fact check, and polish stories from Daily Kos staff and freelance writers and prepare them for publication. The Editor also helps prepare outside content from the AP wire, nonprofit newsrooms, and content partners, to be republished at Daily Kos.
This position reports to the Managing Editor.
The position may require weekend work.
Responsibilities
Experience: - 4+ years of editing experience in a print and/or digital newsroom or similar setting. - Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Qualifications: - Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills. - Fluency in AP style and other editorial guidelines. - Knowledge of U.S. progressive politics and news. - Excellent news judgment. - Impeccable attention to detail. - Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. - Comfortable with a virtual working environment. - Be tech and internet savvy (we use Google Docs, Slack, Dropbox, Asana, and lots of other tools that make work life easier) - Availability to generally work Pacific time zone core hours (Roughly 9am PST-5pm PST)
