<title>The Doctor Strikes Again; This Time, It&#x27;s Personal</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/10/2/1427283/-The-Doctor-Strikes-Again-This-Time-It-s-Personal</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;This morning my doctor friend, who I wrote about in my &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/09/23/1424268/--The-Poor-Are-Not-Suffering-Enough-to-Deserve-My-Help&#x22;&#x3E;last diary&#x3C;/a&#x3E; (you know, the one who feels that the poor aren&#x27;t suffering enough to justify his contributions to public-assistance programs), emailed me (and about 20 others) a link to this video:&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
&#x3C;iframe width=&#x22;560&#x22; height=&#x22;315&#x22; src=&#x22;http://www.youtube.com/embed/4ISTbT-R9hs&#x22; frameborder=&#x22;0&#x22; defang_allowfullscreen=&#x22;&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;/iframe&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;To his credit, he normally doesn&#x27;t do this; in fact I don&#x27;t think he&#x27;s ever included me on a mass e-mail containing GOP propaganda before. I don&#x27;t really get any of these anymore. I had another friend who used to do this years ago, in the early 2000s; suffice to say that friendship did not end well, although it &#x3C;i&#x3E;did&#x3C;/i&#x3E; end. A couple of other people have done it in recent years, and they either stopped when I asked them to or I blocked them. I think some have gone straight to the Spam folder.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Anyway, in response to this email, I sent my doctor friend a brief, simple, polite, unembellished request:&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;Please don&#x27;t send me things like this. Thanks.&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;
That&#x27;s it, just that, nothing else. Follow me below the fold for his response.

<title> Conversations with Ted</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/11/18/1037751/--Conversations-with-Ted</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;img src=&#x22;http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/xx283/kd4vs/headbang_ani.gif&#x22; /&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Over the past year or so, I have had email conversations with a fellow whom I will call Ted. &#x26;nbsp;We are both baby boomers. &#x26;nbsp;Ted has a bachelor&#x27;s degree in engineering and runs a small consulting firm that his father had founded. &#x26;nbsp;Ted and I have occasionally had clients in common.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Ted is registered as a Democrat. &#x26;nbsp;I guess he could best be termed a Reagan Democrat. &#x26;nbsp;He is very right-wing.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Our conversations have wandered into politics because Ted put me on his email distribution list. &#x26;nbsp;He gets email messages from other people with a right-wing slant, and passes them on. &#x26;nbsp;These messages are typically about the outrage du jour as hyped by Fox News, Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and the like.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>&#x22;THAT Relative,&#x22; or, why conservative chain emails rely on parables</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/2/27/841342/--THAT-Relative-or-why-conservative-chain-emails-rely-on-parables</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Anyone else have &#x22;that relative?&#x22; You know, the one who keeps sending you those unsolicited chain emails full of conservative talking points and bashing of those lazy liberals and dirty f&#x27;ing hippies? My girlfriend has one, her brother. A nice enough guy in person, all the same he insists on regularly sending her thoughtless, reactionary, fact-free crap. He&#x27;s become only a bit less aggressive since she started asking me to help formulate replies. Here&#x27;s this week&#x27;s doozie below the fold; my reply below. Discuss.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;A health care reform play in three acts, once known as a &#x22;three penny opera,&#x22; or entertainment for the masses, &#x26;nbsp;information spread by the prevailing venue of the times. &#x26;nbsp;The oracle has evolved but the information..... &#x26;nbsp;not so much.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Tired of the lies</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/8/6/762977/-Tired-of-the-lies</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;I know everyone here has received one of these emails from a friend, family member or co-worker. &#x26;nbsp;I know there have been similar diaries that have made from these. &#x26;nbsp;I&#x27;m just hoping that some of you will read my response and offer any criticism before I hit send. &#x26;nbsp;You see, I received the email from my parents and I really don&#x27;t want to offend them but I can&#x27;t take the lies, half-truths and slander that are propagated by these emails. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;I&#x27;m not going to bother posting the original but it should be fairly obvious where my words begin and end and where Lou Pritchett (the author of the original) words do the same. &#x26;nbsp;I&#x27;ll take any corrections or criticism offered.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Below the fold as they say...&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;This email is to a former 2nd grade teacher who is still friends with my parents down in Texas. &#x26;nbsp;I would love suggestions on tone if you have any. &#x26;nbsp;Also, if you know of other reliable fact-checking sites let me know.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Help! Counter Right-Wing Chain e-Mails</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/3/15/477236/-Help-Counter-Right-Wing-Chain-e-Mails</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Well, first let me start off and say that I didn&#x27;t just receive one of those annoying, un-factual, right-wing emails slurring one of our favorite candidates, their position, lying about their ethnicity, or religion.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;I&#x27;m sure many progressives have thought about this before that even though the right lies, they have an unbelievable (not to mention gullible) amount of willing constituents that put forth their propaganda via this vast engine of &#x22;friends and family&#x22; email contacts. How many times have you been a recipient of this vast right wing e-mail engine?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;What we need is our own. Folow me across the jump.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Those damned annoying chain emails</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/2/1/447169/-Those-damned-annoying-chain-emails</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;I receive at least one chain email per week. Many seem pretty harmless, if you don&#x26;rsquo;t buy into a caveat like &#x3C;em&#x3E;Forward this to at least ten others, or you, your children &#x26;amp; children&#x26;rsquo;s children will be cursed with bad luck. &#x3C;/em&#x3E;Of course, I always break the chain, and I&#x26;rsquo;m still alive (and doing very well). Other emails are not so harmless; like accusations that Obama is a Muslim and refused to place his hand over his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance (Yes, both of these are still alive and well, thank you). These types of provocative emails always receive a response from me.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
