<title>How to make Common Sense Great Again</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2017/7/13/1680495/-How-to-make-Common-Sense-Great-Again</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;This is my first blog post for Daily Kos. Any way one of the things that I have never gotten about politics is how the GOP continues to win elections. In this post I hope to break down the incredibly ridiculous reasons that they continue to win and how progressives can stop them from winning again.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p class=&#x22;is-empty-p&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;1. Gerrymandering&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;So in 2010 we all unfortunately forgot to vote, seriously how did that happen. As a result of our laziness (for once the GOP was right in calling us lazy) the Republicans swept control of the house and nearly took control of the Senate. Although that was the big news for the mid-term election, at the state level the GOP swept control of multiple statehouses and governors chairs. This allowed conservatives to box us into gerrymandered congressional districts. It also allowed them to breakup people of color into multiple congressional districts. Now I know you all have probably heard why gerrymandering&#xA0;benefits the GOP like&#xA0;a million times, but its number one because somehow liberals forget to vote in really important elections and&#xA0;now were literally trapped in a continues cycle of Republican congressional dominance. &#xA0;&#xA0;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;2. Progressives are really boring &#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Please don&#x27;t take this as an insult, in fact many of you should take this as a compliment. Our politicians and our policies are really smart, thought out, and wonkish. Conservatives are the complete opposite both with their policies and their politicians. I mean have you ever seen their bills, there is absolutely no fact what so ever to back their legislation. To compensate they make up lies about legislation and laws that actually benefit most Americans. I propose we change our strategy altogether, we need to totally make&#xA0;our proposed legislation awesome. Instead of&#xA0;the Affordable Care Act, call it&#xA0;the &#x201C;This bill will totally save your life bill&#x201D; or the &#x201C;Make Our bodies Functional Again bill&#x201D;. So many combinations can be used with this to make our policies great and likeable by the public. After that we need to go on the attack, progressives and liberals need to be tough. They need to shed the image of wonky attorneys and law professors&#xA0; and totally become&#xA0;defenders of American Democracy. Overall we need to play the GOP at its own game, then we&#x2019;ll win.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;3. Vote and Mobilize &#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Seriously, this one should be pretty obvious, I mean come on please just vote. Really just&#xA0;vote and care once in a while. That all really.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p class=&#x22;is-empty-p&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;As this blog post closes just think about all the good we can accomplish if we unite and fight for progressive&#xA0;goals, seriously though we all need to work together, even the ex-Republicans who now sortta agree with us can help. One last thing treat everyone even conservatives with respect, I know its difficult but one day if we treat them like just another human being they will change their mind on an issue that could benefit us. You know Ted Cruz could even be that guy that we flip to our side. Just kidding.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Some thoughts on liberal voices and ex-Republicans</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/12/1/924711/-Some-thoughts-on-liberal-voices-and-ex-Republicans</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;This is, of course, the internet. &#x26;nbsp;That means people can say they are whoever they want to say they are. &#x26;nbsp;Many people are telling the truth, many others are not, and none of us really knows the difference.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;I will tell you, honestly, that I am 40, I am female, and I have been a liberal as long as I can remember. Believe me or not, it makes no difference to me. &#x26;nbsp;I was 10 years old when Reagan was elected, and I remember crying. &#x26;nbsp;I also remember finding it a mighty strange coincidence that the Iran hostages were released right after he was sworn in. &#x26;nbsp;It didn&#x26;#8217;t seem right, even to my 10-year old brain.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Why mention all this? &#x26;nbsp;Join me for more, below the fold.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Welcome, McCain trolls!</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/8/7/564262/-Welcome-McCain-trolls</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Allow me to be the first to welcome you to the grand left-wing conspiracy.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Presumably you&#x27;ve landed here thanks to the recent media boomlet (&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/08/06/AR2008080603589.html?hpid=topnews&#x22;&#x3E;thank you, Washington Post&#x3C;/a&#x3E;) on your hero&#x27;s efforts to spread the Mavericky Gospel far and wide by posting to prominent blogs.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;And lucky us, Daily Kos is &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.johnmccain.com/ActionCenter/BlogInteract/BlogInteract.aspx&#x22;&#x3E;the leading liberal blog suggested by Walnuts&#x3C;/a&#x3E;. &#x26;nbsp;So here you are.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;I suspect most of the community will give you the same reception one would give a cockroach infestation, but I enthusiastically welcome you.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;See, you&#x27;re pissing in the wind here. We are the true believers. The Arizona Cardinals (Walnuts&#x27; favorite football team) have a better chance of winning the next 10 Super Bowls than you have of convincing a single Kossack to vote for Walnuts. The way I figure it, every minute you fritter away here is a minute you&#x27;re not out spreading your crap on sites where you might actually reach undecided voters.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;So by all means, welcome! &#x26;nbsp;I hope you stay here until Election Day!&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;But if you&#x27;re going to play with us, I&#x27;d ask that you keep a few things in mind:&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Ex Republicans Need not apply</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/7/9/549086/-Ex-Republicans-Need-not-apply</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Sorry folks but I do not want ex-Republicans in &#x26;nbsp;my tent. The small government, fiscal conservative, personal responsibility crowd needs to form their own party.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
