<title>Anarchy!</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/5/18/732795/-Anarchy</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;This is anarchy! Over the course of the past few days, we&#x27;ve had two, count &#x27;em, &#x3C;em&#x3E;two&#x3C;/em&#x3E; Republican officials dare to suggest that Rush Limbaugh is not their conservative overlord.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;First, from &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://thinkprogress.org/2009/05/14/shadegg-rush-climate/&#x22;&#x3E;John Shadegg&#x3C;/a&#x3E; (R-VA):&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;SHADEGG: But Rush Limbaugh is a television personality. I don&#x26;rsquo;t think he&#x26;rsquo;s chairman of the Republican Party, last I looked.
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;And then, from &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://thinkprogress.org/2009/05/18/price-limbaugh-cheney/&#x22;&#x3E;Tom Price&#x3C;/a&#x3E; (R-GA):&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;SCARBOROUGH: Congressman, do you believe that Rush Limbaugh or Dick Cheney are better, quote &#x26;mdash; I&#x26;rsquo;m just using terms that we hear every day on TV and radio &#x26;mdash; that they are somehow better Republicans than Colin Powell?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;PRICE: No. Goodness.
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;That Shadegg and Price made the comments isn&#x27;t the news here -- but the fact that they haven&#x27;t backtracked and &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/03/04/limbaugh.mocked/index.html&#x22;&#x3E;apologized&#x3C;/a&#x3E; for criticizing Limbaugh is. So, where did this new-found backbone come from?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Probably because they&#x27;re not willing to be shown up by the 97-year old &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://blog.newsweek.com/blogs/thegaggle/archive/2009/05/14/john-mccain-s-mom-jabs-limbaugh.aspx&#x22;&#x3E;Roberta McCain&#x3C;/a&#x3E; (R-MOM):&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;I don&#x27;t know what he is. But he does not represent the Republican Party that I belong to.
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;

<title>Turning My Mother&#x27;s Death Into Gossip</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/5/14/731439/-Turning-My-Mother-s-Death-Into-Gossip</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;I&#x27;ll start with the good. Most of you know that my mother passed away suddenly on April 4th; many of you here were wonderful enough to take the time to express your condolences, both then and since, and it is truly the case that such condolences are invaluable and sustaining and I thank you again for them.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;But I have to tell you that today my mother&#x27;s death was turned into a sleazy gossip item on-line.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;The proprietor of the site did not contact me for comment before posting and did not try to contact our MSNBC media people until the very moment he did post. He has resisted all entreaties to remove the item, and it has already been linked around the net.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>&#x22;PLEASE, look at these numbers. Tell me you want to risk it.&#x22;</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/9/3/584502/--PLEASE-look-at-these-numbers-Tell-me-you-want-to-risk-it</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;It&#x27;s safe to assume that Sarah Palin&#x27;s speech tonight will cue an exercise in Republican triumphalism. So long as she doesn&#x27;t announce Alaska has seceded from the U.S., she&#x27;ll be praised to the skies as an energizing/breath-of-fresh-air/straight-talkin&#x27; Maverickette. And, of course, you&#x27;ll be hearing the term &#x22;laid to &#x26;nbsp;rest&#x22; a lot.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;As in, &#x22;Woowee! That speech laid to rest any doubts anyone could have about her.&#x22;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;But of course, the speech will lay to rest no doubts whatsoever--her ability to read from a teleprompter is not in question. What IS in question is her experience, or lack thereof.&#x3C;em&#x3E; Her ability to actually comprehend and command the complexities of running this country.&#x3C;/em&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Or lack thereof.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;How do we keep that issue front and center, tonight and going forward, in the face of the RNC&#x27;s determined efforts to make a silk purse out of this particular sow&#x27;s ear?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Not by tearing her down with personal attacks &#x26;nbsp;(which leaves room for a sympathy backlash), but by making a simple, neutral request:
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x22;PLEASE, look at these numbers. Tell me you want to risk it.&#x22;
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>No doughnut holes for McCain Family</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/8/22/572636/-No-doughnut-holes-for-McCain-Family</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;The next time McSame smears Medicare, would someone ask him about the prescription drugs his 96 year-old mother is taking? You might ask McSame whether his mother has to break her pills in half, and does she fear the doughnut hole like so many in her age bracket?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;There is a &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.kff.org/medicare/7811.cfm&#x22;&#x3E;new alarming report from the Kaiser Family Foundation&#x3C;/a&#x3E; which describe a veritable epidemic of senior citizens falling through the infamous &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.kff.org/medicare/medicare082108nr.cfm&#x22;&#x3E;Medicare D doughnut hole.&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;What do they do when they hit the hole? Many of America&#x27;s most vulnerable, our elderly, simply stop taking their medications.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;This is particularly disquieting because as the world now knows, we have a candidate running for president who is fully out of touch with the realities of middle class Americans. Those of us who earn under 5 million a year.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>McCain&#x27;s Mom Sued His Ex - McCain Forgets?</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/8/16/568803/-McCain-s-Mom-Sued-His-Ex-McCain-Forgets</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;A new story is being picked up in the press - John McCain&#x27;s mother, Roberta McCain, sued her former daughter-in-law, Carol McCain, in 1980, to &#x22;reclaim some personal property&#x22;. &#x26;nbsp;And while neither John or Roberta remembers this happening - go figure - Carol does, and there&#x27;s records of it. &#x26;nbsp;And both John and Carol filed suit ten years later seeking punitive damages for items thrown out by a property management firm - but he doesn&#x27;t remember it.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>McCain&#x27;s Mom Calls Britney/Paris Ad: &#x27;kinda stupid&#x27;</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/8/1/560913/-McCain-s-Mom-Calls-Britney-Paris-Ad-kinda-stupid</link>

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Well, it appears that one member of the McCain camp doesn&#x27;t care for the &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/mccainslowroadexpress/&#x22;&#x3E;low road express:&#x3C;/a&#x3E; McCain&#x27;s own mother!&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Thursdays with Roberta McCain</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/6/29/543643/-Thursdays-with-Roberta-McCain</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Today&#x27;s LA Times has an article by a reporter who, getting the runaround from the McCain camp on scheduling a formal interview with McCain&#x27;s mother, picked up the phone, called her directly, and ended up speaking with her every Thursday for a few weeks:&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-onthemedia29-2008jun29,0,2679085.story?page=1&#x22;&#x3E;Roberta McCain steals reporter&#x27;s heart, strikes fear in handlers&#x27;&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;So it went. I called Mrs. McCain every few weeks. Normal channels weren&#x27;t producing an interview. And she didn&#x27;t seem to mind.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;She would usually begin by saying she couldn&#x27;t really talk. Then, overcome by impeccable manners and a native loquaciousness, she&#x27;d get going despite herself.

<title>Mothers&#x27; Day, Global Warming and McCain&#x27;s &#x22;Character Campaign&#x22;</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/5/10/513275/-Mothers-Day-Global-Warming-and-McCain-s-Character-Campaign</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;What do Mothers&#x27; Day and global warming have in common? &#x26;nbsp;Both, as it turns out, are essential ingredients in John McCain&#x27;s &#x22;character&#x22; campaign for the White House. &#x26;nbsp;That is, given the staggering unpopularity of his party&#x27;s platform and president, John McCain is now running away from both. &#x26;nbsp;From here on out, the McCain campaign will be about the character of the man.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
