He said that we need to reduce our dependence of foreign oil.  He said that we need to increase the debt ceiling.  He said that we must generate more revenue.  He said that we need to increase manufacturing.  He said that we must do a lot of obvious things that we already know that we must do.  Both he and we have been saying those things for many years.  But he did not say say that we actually were going to do something differently from how we are doing it now or from how we have been doing it. Barack Obama, who was elected on a platform of change, offers us no changes whatsoever -- except, perhaps, cuts to Medicare and Social Security.
