<title>That Texting Investigator is in Good Company -- Trump IS an Idiot</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2017/12/16/1724980/-That-Texting-Investigator-is-in-Good-Company-Trump-IS-an-Idiot</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x2014;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;That word &#x201C;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;Idiot&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x201D; was the top response of given by the American people in a &#x3C;a href=&#x22;https://poll.qu.edu/national/release-detail?ReleaseID=2507&#x22; target=&#x22;_blank&#x22;&#x3E;Quinnipiac Poll&#x3C;/a&#x3E; a, to describe their president using a &#x201C;single word.&#x201D; Here are some of the others:&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p class=&#x22;is-empty-p&#x22;&#x3E;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;div class=&#x22;dk-editor-embed center-block&#x22; data-twitter-content=&#x27;&#x26;amp;lt;blockquote class=&#x22;twitter-tweet&#x22; data-lang=&#x22;en&#x22;&#x26;amp;gt;&#x26;amp;lt;p dir=&#x22;ltr&#x22; lang=&#x22;en&#x22;&#x26;amp;gt;Word Cloud - What is the first word that comes to mind when you think of President Trump? &#x26;amp;lt;a href=&#x22;https://t.co/eojiiD9Fme&#x22;&#x26;amp;gt;https://t.co/eojiiD9Fme&#x26;amp;lt;/a&#x26;amp;gt; &#x26;amp;lt;a href=&#x22;https://t.co/tcmq0jm7hk&#x22;&#x26;amp;gt;pic.twitter.com/tcmq0jm7hk&#x26;amp;lt;/a&#x26;amp;gt;&#x26;amp;lt;/p&#x26;amp;gt;&#x2014; Quinnipiac Poll (@QuinnipiacPoll) &#x26;amp;lt;a href=&#x22;https://twitter.com/QuinnipiacPoll/status/940654761484972034?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&#x22;&#x26;amp;gt;December 12, 2017&#x26;amp;lt;/a&#x26;amp;gt;&#x26;amp;lt;/blockquote&#x26;amp;gt;&#x27;&#x3E;&#x3C;div class=&#x22;remove-embed-content&#x22;&#x3E;x&#x3C;/div&#x3E;&#x3C;blockquote class=&#x22;twitter-tweet&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;Word Cloud - What is the first word that comes to mind when you think of President Trump? &#x3C;a href=&#x22;https://t.co/eojiiD9Fme&#x22;&#x3E;https://t.co/eojiiD9Fme&#x3C;/a&#x3E; &#x3C;a href=&#x22;https://t.co/tcmq0jm7hk&#x22;&#x3E;pic.twitter.com/tcmq0jm7hk&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#xC3;&#xA2;&#xC2;&#x80;&#xC2;&#x94; Quinnipiac Poll (@QuinnipiacPoll) &#x3C;a href=&#x22;https://twitter.com/QuinnipiacPoll/status/940654761484972034?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&#x22;&#x3E;December 12, 2017&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;&#x3C;/div&#x3E;

&#x3C;p class=&#x22;is-empty-p&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x201C;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;Liar&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x201D; and &#x201C;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;Incompetent&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x201D; were the 2nd and 3rd place presidential &#x201C;descriptors&#x201D; given to the pollsters.&#xA0; Those are slightly better than being an &#x201C;Idiot&#x201D;, I suppose. At least &#x3C;em&#x3E;they suggest&#x3C;/em&#x3E; there is some &#x2018;room for improvement&#x2019; &#x2014; should the president choose to do so.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;But I think that&#x2019;s giving him too much credit though.&#xA0; As his tweet history confirms, with Trump &#x201C;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.trumptwitterarchive.com/archive/stupid&#x22; target=&#x22;_blank&#x22;&#x3E;stupid&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x201D; is as stupid does.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-quinnipiac-poll-idiot-liar-incompetent-745890&#x22; target=&#x22;_blank&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;em&#x3E;Newsweek&#x3C;/em&#x3E;&#x3C;/a&#x3E; goes on to explain:&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;American voters also had a dark view of Trump when it comes to &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.newsweek.com/hope-hicks-donald-trump-brad-parscale-russia-investigation-robert-mueller-720008&#x22;&#x3E;the lingering investigation&#x3C;/a&#x3E; of Russian influence on U.S. politics: Some &#x3C;strong&#x3E;57 percent&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; of those polled by Quinnipiac said &#x3C;em&#x3E;Trump has tried to &#x201C;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;derail or obstruct the investigation &#x3C;/strong&#x3E;into the Russian interference in the 2016 election.&#x201D;&#x3C;/em&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;More than half, or 52 percent&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;, said the &#x3C;u&#x3E;Trump campaign colluded with the Russian government&#x3C;/u&#x3E;. Just less than half, or 48 percent, said Trump did not collude with the Russian government to sway the outcome of the election.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;So when Peter Strzok &#x2014; the Special Counsel investigator that Mueller&#xA0;&#x3C;em&#x3E;fired&#x3C;/em&#x3E; &#x2014; sent a private text, that he thought then Candidate Trump was &#x201C;an idiot&#x201D; &#x2014; he was in good company:&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;em&#x3E;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;https://www.cbsnews.com/news/peter-strzok-lisa-page-texts-trump-idiot/&#x22; target=&#x22;_blank&#x22;&#x3E;CBS News&#x3C;/a&#x3E;:&#x3C;/em&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Strzok wonders in March 2016 whether Mr. Trump would &#x22;be a worse president than (Ted) Cruz?&#x22; Page responds, &#x22;Trump? Yes, I think so.&#x22; Strzok then says &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Mr. Trump is &#x22;awful&#x22; and &#x22;an idiot.&#x22;&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;It would seem like a majority of Americans now agree with Strzok &#x2014; &#x3C;em&#x3E;along with members of Trump&#x2019;s own Administration, too:&#x3C;/em&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x2022; &#x3C;a href=&#x22;https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&#x26;amp;rct=j&#x26;amp;q=&#x26;amp;esrc=s&#x26;amp;source=web&#x26;amp;cd=3&#x26;amp;cad=rja&#x26;amp;uact=8&#x26;amp;ved=0ahUKEwj4sJj9zY7YAhVH7GMKHWCyDtcQFgg2MAI&#x26;amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vox.com%2Fworld%2F2017%2F11%2F20%2F16680190%2Fhr-mcmaster-trump-idiot-kindergartner&#x26;amp;usg=AOvVaw0MfuMtuZhsaQXsn0P_GsK_&#x22; target=&#x22;_blank&#x22;&#x3E;H.R. McMaster reportedly thinks Trump is an &#x201C;idiot&#x201D; with the brain of a &#x201C;kindergartner&#x201D;&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x2022; &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.nj.com/opinion/index.ssf/2017/10/us_chief_diplomat_tells_it_like_it_is_trumps_a_mor.html&#x22; target=&#x22;_blank&#x22;&#x3E;U.S. chief diplomat [Rex Tillerson] tells it like it is: Trump&#x27;s a &#x27;moron&#x27; with foreign policy&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Bernie&#x27;s Iowa Town Hall word cloud: guess the biggest word!</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2016/1/25/1475227/-Bernie-s-Iowa-Town-Hall-word-cloud-guess-the-biggest-word</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Of course, the biggest word, the word Bernie kept repeating, is &#x201C;people&#x201D;.&#xA0;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;(I edited out the words Chris, Hillary, Clinton, and Secretary, and the text of questions, leaving only Bernie&#x2019;s responses.&#xA0;The text was taken from CNN&#x2019;s transcript,&#xA0;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://cnnpressroom.blogs.cnn.com/2016/01/26/cnn-iowa-democratic-presidential-town-hall-rush-transcript/&#x22; target=&#x22;_blank&#x22; title=&#x22;&#x22;&#x3E;cnnpressroom.blogs.cnn.com/...&#x3C;/a&#x3E;)&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x201C;Wall&#x201D; is so prominent because Bernie is focused on making Wall Street work for the people.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>GOP Debate Word Cloud</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/12/15/1460642/-GOP-Debate-Word-Cloud</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Here&#x2019;s a hastily put together word cloud on tonight&#x2019;s&#xA0;GOP debate. &#xA0;It&#x2019;s not perfect as I did it in a hurry.&#xA0;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;The transcript on which it&#x2019;s based was taken from WaPo. I eliminated most of what I thought were not relevant words (e.g. the names of the candidates &#x26;amp; hosts, common verbs like talking, going, seeing, etc., and combined a few (terrorists and terrorism into terrorists/ism, etc.).&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Dems Desperately Seeking Messaging Clarity</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/1/30/1361289/-Dems-Desparately-Seeking-Messaging-Clarity</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
It kind of seems like the Democratic Party &#x27;got the message&#x27; of the Nov 2014 Election:&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x26;nbsp; &#x3C;em&#x3E;&#x22;Don&#x27;t run from your shadows, if you want &#x3C;strong&#x3E;the majority&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; of people to follow you.&#x22;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;/em&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.stltoday.com/news/national/govt-and-politics/house-democrats-vow-to-explain-their-vision-better-in/article_eed885a4-8cc7-560a-a19d-e9932f5505b5.html&#x22;&#x3E;House Democrats&#x27; new message on the economy&#x3C;/a&#x3E;: &#x3C;em&#x3E;We told you so&#x3C;/em&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;by Charles Babinton, stltoday.com -- 1/30/2015&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;[...]&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
&#x22;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;Democrats have to stand up&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;, you&#x27;ve got to explain what we did,&#x22; [Joe] Biden said to loud applause Friday. &#x22;&#x3C;i&#x3E;Be proud of it&#x3C;/i&#x3E;... &#x3C;em&#x3E;We can&#x27;t let the Republican Party &#x3C;strong&#x3E;rewrite history&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;.&#x3C;/em&#x3E;&#x22;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Obama said much the same the night before. &#x22;The record shows we were right&#x22; the president said, referring to the 2009 stimulus, the bank and auto industry bailouts, and other strategies to pull out the great recession of 2008.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;If the Democrats&#x27; were so right, reporters asked, &#x3C;em&#x3E;why did Republicans clobber them&#x3C;/em&#x3E; in the 2014 midterm elections? &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Poor messaging&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;, top Democrats said, which must be remedied.&#x3C;br /&#x3E;
[...]&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;

<title>Word Cloud: Top Words/Phrases Fox Uses To Get Wingnuts Riled Up</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/9/17/1239410/-Word-Cloud-Top-Words-Phrases-Fox-Uses-To-Get-Wingnuts-Riled-Up</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Yesterday on Twitter I tweeted a list of what I called &#x22;The Top Words/Phrases Fox Uses to Rile Wingnuts.&#x22; Given 140 character limit, I could only squeeze in about seven items on my list. But then a funny thing happened, dozens of others tweeted their additions to the list. By the time it was done, the list had close to 100 entries.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Here&#x27;s a word cloud I put together that includes many of those entries:&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;div class=&#x22;dkimg-c&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;span class=&#x22;image_container&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;img src=&#x22;http://s3.amazonaws.com/dk-production/images/49312/large/Wingnut_Word_Cloud.jpg?1379424662&#x22; alt=&#x22;&#x22; width=&#x22;550&#x22; height=&#x22;359&#x22; /&#x3E;&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/div&#x3E;

<title>Romney Ramblings Run Rampant </title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/10/3/1139693/-Romney-Ramblings-Run-Rampant</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Word clouds show visually what words were important in last night&#x27;s presidential debate. Romney&#x27;s word cloud had more number-words like &#x22;number&#x22;, &#x22;million&#x22;, &#x22;billion&#x22;, &#x22;trillion&#x22;, &#x22;percent,&#x22; and &#x22;rate.&#x22; It says that numbers matter more than what happens to people. Obama&#x27;s word cloud had more people-words like &#x22;families&#x22;, &#x22;folks&#x22;, &#x22;middle-class&#x22;, &#x22;help&#x22;, &#x22;security&#x22; and &#x22;opportunity&#x22;. Obama&#x27;s words were more performance related like &#x22;best&#x22;, &#x22;figure&#x22;, &#x22;system&#x22;, &#x22;problem&#x22;, &#x22;reason&#x22;, &#x22;replace&#x22; and &#x22;able&#x22;. Romney&#x27;s performance words went back to numbers like &#x22;lose&#x22;, &#x22;lower&#x22; and &#x22;raise&#x22;.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;b&#x3E;Romney&#x27;s Word Cloud:&#x3C;/b&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;img src=&#x22;http://imageshack.us/a/img208/3272/romneydebatewordcloud.png&#x22; width=&#x22;400&#x22; /&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Republicans are More Concerned about Pills than Jobs</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/2/23/1067586/-Republicans-are-More-Concerned-about-Pills-than-Jobs</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;The top 25 words in last nights&#x27; Republican debate was again missing words like jobs, unemployment, foreclosure and economy. &#x26;nbsp;Instead, the word &#x22;pills&#x22;, short for contraception pills, made it in the top 25 words list. This shows that Republicans care more about what happens in bedrooms than in getting jobs.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Indeed most of the top words were about places and positions, showing that the Republicans are concerned about an entitled place in society not in fixing the problems of the country.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;And of course, Obama is a focus word. But Republicans just substitute blaming the President for a discussion of policy. Indeed, &#x22;people think&#x22; still shows in the highest word usage in this debate as well as in previous debates showing that the focus is more marketing and illusion rather than substance.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Debt deal word cloud ... ridiculous</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/8/1/1001891/-Debt-deal-word-cloud-ridiculous</link>

&#x3C;p&#x3E;As the pro forma vote on the debt deal approaches, here&#x27;s a &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/behind-the-numbers/post/budget-talks-in-a-word-ridiculous-disgusting-and-stupid-top-poll/2011/07/12/gIQABdOrnI_blog.html&#x22;&#x3E;word cloud&#x3C;/a&#x3E; based on a new Washington Post/Pew Research Center poll, where respondents were:&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;Asked for single-word characterizations of the budget negotiations ...&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;div class=&#x22;dkimg-c&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;img src=&#x22;http://images2.dailykos.com/i/user/30549/word_cloud_debt_ceiling1.jpg&#x22; alt=&#x22;debt deal word cloud&#x22; height=&#x22;296&#x22; width=&#x22;550&#x22; /&#x3E;&#x3C;/div&#x3E;

<title>A word cloud comparison of President Obama&#x27;s and Sarah Palin&#x27;s messages</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/1/13/936039/-A-word-cloud-comparison-of-President-Obama-s-and-Sarah-Palin-s-messages</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Using word cloud&#x27;s from &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.wordle.net/&#x22;&#x3E;wordle.net&#x3C;/a&#x3E;, here&#x27;s an interesting visual comparison of President Obama&#x27;s speech at the Tucson memorial service and the web video delivered by &#x26;nbsp;Sarah Palin from her home television studio.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;First, President Obama&#x27;s word cloud:&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;img width=&#x22;450&#x22; alt=&#x22;Wordle.net Word Cloud of Obama speech&#x22; src=&#x22;http://images2.dailykos.com/images/user/191280/obamawordle.png&#x22; height=&#x22;250&#x22; /&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Next, Sarah Palin&#x27;s word cloud:&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;img width=&#x22;450&#x22; alt=&#x22;Wordle.net Word Cloud of Palin web video&#x22; src=&#x22;http://images2.dailykos.com/images/user/191280/palinwordle.png&#x22; height=&#x22;294&#x22; /&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;The word clouds show the contrast between their two approaches. They both recognized Saturday&#x27;s shooting for the tragedy that it was, but the clear emphasis of President Obama&#x27;s word choice was on focusing on the victims and that which unites us as a nation, whereas Palin focused on her grievances and what drives our country apart.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Dead Men Talking.</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/11/5/800955/-Dead-Men-Talking</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;In August, I read &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/8/25/13250/7577&#x22;&#x3E;this diary&#x3C;/a&#x3E; by JR about Todd Willingham, the Texas inmate executed in 2004. The diary linked to an ABA Journal article that said in part:
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;... Craig Beyler, reviewed the case of Cameron Todd Willingham for the Texas Forensic Science Commission, created to investigate allegations of forensic mistakes, the Chicago Tribune reports. The newspaper obtained a copy of his report.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Willingham was convicted of murder for the deaths of his three children who perished in the fire. Beyler is one of nine top fire scientists who have reviewed the case and found that the original investigators relied on outdated theories and folklore, the story says.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Beyler wrote that the state fire marshal investigating the case &#x22;seems to be wholly without any realistic understanding of fires and how fire injuries are created.&#x22;
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Iran speeches and statements -- word clouds</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/6/21/745177/-Iran-speeches-and-statements-word-clouds</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;I&#x27;ve created some word clouds from &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.wordle.net/&#x22;&#x3E;http://www.wordle.net/&#x3C;/a&#x3E; from speeches given over the past days in the wake of the Iran election, as reported/translated on &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/&#x22;&#x3E;Andrew Sullivan&#x27;s blog&#x3C;/a&#x3E;. I find word clouds to be an interesting way to pull out the themes. (I&#x27;ll add a few obvious observations as well, to show what I took out of these. I know this smacks a little of reading palms or pop psychology; I&#x27;m offering these for the fun of it alone.)&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Here is Mousavi&#x27;s statement from yesterday.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;img src=&#x22;http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3396/3647118793_ebf3a98c36_d.jpg&#x22; /&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;In this case, the emphasis on revolution refers to the Islamic revolution --
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;I came to invite people to join the Islamic revolution in its honorable, original form, and to re-shape it into to what it must be
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;He is saying that this isn&#x27;t a revolt, but a people&#x27;s protest against something illicit.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Word Clouds from Debate</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/8/623658/-Word-Clouds-from-Debate</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;This diary is pretty self explanatory. &#x26;nbsp;Short and sweet?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;I took the transcript from CNN, split out the Obama lines and the McCain lines, and made word (tag) clouds from them using &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://wordle.net&#x22;&#x3E;wordle.net&#x3C;/a&#x3E;. &#x26;nbsp;The result is below the fold if you are interested.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Don&#x27;t think of an Obama/Biden!</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/9/12/596761/-Don-t-think-of-an-Obama-Biden</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Part of my daily routine is to open 15 tabs in Firefox with my favorite blogs. At the end of the day, it is a quick, easy way to gauge what happened on the campaign trail and decide where to dig in deeper. I realize the repugs have dominated the news cycles since their hatefest in Minnesota two weeks ago so their candidates are getting all the attention. And rightly so, Palin&#x27;s past and McCain&#x27;s honorless lies need to be exposed, dissected and discredited.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;What concerns me is the visual impression of the the home page of most of the progressive blogs. It seems every other word on DailyKos, TalkingPointsMemo and ThinkProgress are covered up with the M word and the P word. Obama is barely mentioned in the post titles and occasionally in the body of the posts. Poor Biden is rarely, if ever mentioned.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Here is a wordcloud of DailyKos on Friday around 7:30 PM CST: &#x26;nbsp;
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.flickr.com/photos/23228084@N02/2851381163/&#x22; title=&#x22;Kos Wordcloud by brobinson2102, on Flickr&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;img width=&#x22;448&#x22; alt=&#x22;Kos Wordcloud&#x22; src=&#x22;http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3195/2851381163_8da542a6ea_o.jpg&#x22; height=&#x22;217&#x22; /&#x3E;&#x3C;/a&#x3E;
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;Somehow I can help but think all these free impressions are helping their candidate and hurting ours.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Word Clouds of the Two Speeches</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/9/4/587394/-Word-Clouds-of-the-Two-Speeches</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;I thought it would be at least interesting, and possibly revealing, to do word clouds of Obama&#x27;s and McCain&#x27;s acceptance speeches. (After I post this, I&#x27;ll try to go back and do Biden and Palin as well.)&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>McSame&#x27;s Obama Obsession - **In Fancy Pictures**</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/8/4/562226/-McSame-s-Obama-Obsession-In-Fancy-Pictures</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/graphic/2008/08/01/GR2008080102726.html&#x22;&#x3E;Today&#x27;s WaPo has a great graphic&#x3C;/a&#x3E;, a &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://wordle.net/&#x22;&#x3E;a word cloud&#x3C;/a&#x3E; comparing Obama&#x27;s blog to McCain&#x27;s. &#x26;nbsp;The image is copyrighted, so I won&#x27;t include it (click through on the link above to see it. &#x26;nbsp;You may have to register.)&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;This sample gives you an idea of how word clouds work. &#x26;nbsp;The size of each word or phrase indicates how often that word is used. &#x26;nbsp;At a glance it shows what the most important (or at least frequently mentioned) ideas are.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;a target=&#x22;_blank&#x22; href=&#x22;http://media.photobucket.com/image/wordle/pepsigirl820/wordle.jpg?o=2&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;img width=&#x22;393&#x22; src=&#x22;http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/pepsigirl820/wordle.jpg&#x22; height=&#x22;245&#x22; /&#x3E;&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Go look at WaPo&#x27;s picture and guess which is Obama&#x27;s and which is McCain&#x27;s. &#x26;nbsp;The article gives it away, so don&#x27;t peek.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
