<title>Turn out the lights. Trump gave just $31,000 to his campaign in October. No cash, all in-kind.</title>

<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Turn out the lights, the party&#x2019;s over. Funds are drying up and Donald doesn&#x27;t want to give any of his money to his own campaign. Cash on hand,&#xA0;only&#xA0;$16 million.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Donald&#xA0;Trump gave his foundering campaign&#xA0;$31,000, no cash all in-kind.&#xA0;The $100 million self-funded campaign&#xA0;lie is&#xA0;exposed and the media lets him have it.&#xA0;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Keep your pedal to the metal&#xA0;folks to make this the biggest wave election we can, but this latest news is evidence that Trump&#xA0;knows he&#x2019;s&#xA0;cooked.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;/div&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Adding this to show how Donald&#xA0;Trump&#xA0;lied to his prospective donors.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;div class=&#x22;dk-editor-embed center-block&#x22; data-twitter-content=&#x27;&#x26;amp;lt;blockquote class=&#x22;twitter-tweet&#x22;&#x26;amp;gt;&#x26;amp;lt;p lang=&#x22;en&#x22; dir=&#x22;ltr&#x22;&#x26;amp;gt;Here&#x2019;s an email Trump sent Oct. 1&#x2014;in the period covered by new FEC report&#x2014;pledging to &#x201C;triple-match&#x201D; donations. He gave just $30K this month &#x26;amp;lt;a href=&#x22;https://t.co/ArzAM5UoL9&#x22;&#x26;amp;gt;pic.twitter.com/ArzAM5UoL9&#x26;amp;lt;/a&#x26;amp;gt;&#x26;amp;lt;/p&#x26;amp;gt;&#x26;amp;amp;mdash; Rebecca Ballhaus (@rebeccaballhaus) &#x26;amp;lt;a href=&#x22;https://twitter.com/rebeccaballhaus/status/791845094743740417&#x22;&#x26;amp;gt;October 28, 2016&#x26;amp;lt;/a&#x26;amp;gt;&#x26;amp;lt;/blockquote&#x26;amp;gt;
&#x27;&#x3E;&#x3C;div class=&#x22;remove-embed-content&#x22;&#x3E;x&#x3C;/div&#x3E;&#x3C;blockquote class=&#x22;twitter-tweet&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;Here&#xC3;&#xA2;&#xC2;&#x80;&#xC2;&#x99;s an email Trump sent Oct. 1&#xC3;&#xA2;&#xC2;&#x80;&#xC2;&#x94;in the period covered by new FEC report&#xC3;&#xA2;&#xC2;&#x80;&#xC2;&#x94;pledging to &#xC3;&#xA2;&#xC2;&#x80;&#xC2;&#x9C;triple-match&#xC3;&#xA2;&#xC2;&#x80;&#xC2;&#x9D; donations. &#x3C;/div&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Compare this to what the Clinton campaign raised in just under 3 weeks in&#xA0;October.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;They&#xA0;have nearly four times as much cash on hand. ($62.4 million)&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.nbc-2.com/story/33502086/clinton-reaps-53-million-in-campaign-cash-in-19-days&#x22; target=&#x22;_blank&#x22;&#x3E;www.nbc-2.com/...&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;span&#x3E;Federal Election Commission reports filed Thursday show her campaign had $62.4 million in available cash as of last week.&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;

<title>The rock-star appeal of Bernie Sanders</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/10/2/1426997/-The-rock-star-appeal-of-Bernie-Sanders</link>
<description>
&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;First came the big crowds, now comes the big money. At this point, anyone who doesn&#x2019;t take Bernie Sanders seriously must not be paying attention.&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;
I have just quoted the opening paragraph of &#x3C;a href=&#x22;https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/what-sanders-and-trump-have-in-common/2015/10/01/269acbd6-686b-11e5-9ef3-fde182507eac_story.html&#x22;&#x3E;this Eugene Robinson column in today&#x27;s &#x3C;i&#x3E;Washington Post&#x3C;/i&#x3E;&#x3C;/a&#x3E;, whose title I have borrowed for this post.
&#x3C;p&#x3E;First, several comments about Robinson.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;He has a well-deserved Pulitzer for commentary.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;As a major figure at the &#x3C;i&#x3E;Washington Post&#x3C;/i&#x3E;, he is clearly a key player in &#x22;the Village,&#x22; that group of writers/thinkers in Washington who help define the consensus about politics and government.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;He is regular participant at MSNBC, going back to the days when Keith Olbermann was their star host.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Having said all that, what is more important is his ability to cut the heart of a matter, what is really significant in the stories that come across the wire.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;In this case, he starts with how well Sanders did in raising money last quarter, and as most here should know, he raised 26 million to Clinton&#x27;s 28 million (side observation - Ben Carson apparently raised 30 million in the same time span).&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Robinson offers several appropriate observation about that data, first about what was raised:&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;Sanders&#x2019;s money haul has to worry Clinton, not just for its size but for the way it was achieved. The vast majority came in small donations &#x2014; Sanders&#x2019;s average contribution is less than $25 . This means he can keep going back to these same supporters later in the campaign. Far more of Clinton&#x2019;s donors, by contrast, have already maxed out their allowable contributions for the primaries.&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;
and then after noting Clinton&#x27;s very high burn rate, about the cash on hand:
&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;As a result, even though the Clinton campaign, since inception, has raised $75&#x2009;million to Sanders&#x2019;s $40 million, they have pretty close to the same amount in the bank. He&#x2019;s sitting on $26 million in cash; she has $32 million.&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;
I invite you to continue below the fold.

<title>&#x27;Deer in the Headlights&#x27; -- They&#x27;re Not!  (The Fortune 500)</title>

<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;Supposedly &#x27;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;Uncertainty&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x27; is the new Corporate buzzword.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x27;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;Uncertainty&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;&#x27; is the Mantra that keeps them &#x3C;em&#x3E;FROZEN&#x3C;/em&#x3E; with inaction.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;Well I guess, a lot depends on what kind of &#x27;Action&#x27; -- were looking at.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://blogs.wsj.com/marketbeat/2010/09/17/americas-corporate-cash-cushion/&#x22;&#x3E;America&#x26;rsquo;s Corporate Cash Cushion&#x3C;/a&#x3E;
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;Jonathan Cheng, WSJ Market Beat -- Sep 17, 2010
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;The Federal Reserve put out its quarterly report on fund flows today, which shows &#x3C;strong&#x3E;corporate balance sheets more or less flat at $1.845 trillion&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;, compared to $1.847 trillion in the first quarter of 2010.
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;[...]
&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x22;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;Companies weren&#x26;rsquo;t stuck like a deer in the headlights because of regulatory or political uncertainty&#x3C;/strong&#x3E;,&#x22; he said. Instead, he says corporate directors have been spending on capital expenditures, M&#x26;amp;A, and buybacks and dividends. &#x26;nbsp;[ ... according to Anthony Carfang, from at Chicago-based corporate treasury consultancy Treasury Strategies.]&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Dividends and buybacks, like the ones announced after market close yesterday by Texas Instruments, are on the rise [...]
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Be afraid, be very afraid, people -- Or so the Corporate Speakers are telling us.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Defense, Offense, and the Republican Delusion of Senate Gains</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/5/13/866240/-Defense-Offense-and-the-Republican-Delusion-of-Senate-Gains</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Conventional wisdom today is that the GOP stands to gain a good number of Senate seats this November. &#x26;nbsp;In fact, Nate Silver&#x26;rsquo;s 05/12/10 &#x26;nbsp;&#x22;current numbers only&#x22; analysis has Republicans in the top eight takeover slots. &#x26;nbsp;Extending that analysis to before health care reform, through the Democrats playing defense for a year to pass that historic legislation, and forward to the summer and fall when Democrats will go fiercely on the offensive on various issues like jobs and financial reform, paints a very different picture.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;We&#x27;ve got a barn-burner here in the Alabama 3rd Congressional District and it is not even August yet. This could be one of the most contested races this fall. Josh Segall, a 29 year old attorney is taking on 3 term incumbent Mike Rogers.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Mike Rogers, campaign manager Tripp Skipper &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.montgomeryadvertiser.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080728/NEWS01/807280322/1007/rss02&#x22;&#x3E;came out firing this morning&#x3C;/a&#x3E;this morning&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x22;Segall can make all of the false claims he wants about Mike Rogers&#x27; record, but nothing he says will cover for his northern Ivy League roots or extreme liberal friends bankrolling his uninspiring campaign.&#x22;
&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;I am not sure that Skipper really wanted to open that door.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>CLINTON only raises $8 million for primary in March, Ends IN THE RED!</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/4/20/499817/-CLINTON-only-raises-8-million-for-primary-in-March-Ends-IN-THE-RED</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;The &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.rawstory.com/news/mochila/Obama_reports_51M_to_start_April_Mc_04202008.html&#x22;&#x3E;Raw Story&#x3C;/a&#x3E; has an AP article that says Clinton will file before midnight. Update, midnight has come and gone and the web-site still hasn&#x27;t been updated, but here&#x27;s some info from camp Clinton.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;The Clinton aide said she raised 20 million in March and only had 8 million from March primaries. &#x26;nbsp;This confirms what we all thought of limited resources. &#x26;nbsp;This alone is a bad sign for her campaign and argument for Super Delegates. &#x26;nbsp;Which ones would want to turn away a fund raising machine like Obamas? &#x26;nbsp;It is the thing Democrats have dreamed about for years.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>What about Karl Rove&#x27;s $100 million?</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/10/18/258842/-What-about-Karl-Rove-s-100-million</link>
<description>There&#x27;s a piece today in the &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.washtimes.com/national/20061018-123042-6508r.htm&#x22;&#x3E;Washington Times&#x3C;/a&#x3E; clearly intended to rally the flagging spirits of the right.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;
&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;White House political strategist Karl Rove yesterday confidently predicted that the Republican Party would hold the House and the Senate in next month&#x27;s elections, dismissing fallout from the sex scandal involving former Rep. Mark Foley. [...]&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;
But Mr. Rove said Republican candidates still hold a huge cash edge over Democrats, which will give them clout in the final three weeks of the campaign.[...]&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;
&#x22;For most Americans, particularly the marginal voters who are going to determine the outcome of the election, it started a couple weeks ago,&#x22; he said. &#x22;Between now and the election, we will spend $100 million in target House and Senate races in the next 21 days.&#x22;&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;
Let&#x27;s head on over to &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.opensecrets.org&#x22;&#x3E;OpenSecrets&#x3C;/a&#x3E; and take a look at the money situation. Numbers were just released today, so now&#x27;s a good time to do that anyway. The source for all numbers is &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.opensecrets.org/parties/index.asp&#x22;&#x3E;here&#x3C;/a&#x3E;.&#x3C;br&#x3E;
