<title>The Senate May Now be a little less Red</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2018/11/7/1811130/-The-Senate-May-Now-be-a-little-less-Red</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;In the aftermath of the (yes)&#xA0;Blue Wave, seems to me the Democrats not only took the house, several governorships, manifested&#xA0;local majorities, etc. but there is was also an unheralded significant&#xA0;conquest in this&#xA0;election...&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Many&#xA0;conservative senators that survived&#xA0;were, I believe,&#xA0;awakened to the energy and sensibility on the left. Were it not for the gerrymandering and the&#xA0;Fox News fear and anger-indoctrinated rural voters, more&#xA0;of their seats&#xA0;&#x3C;em&#x3E;would&#x3C;/em&#x3E; have&#xA0;flipped. They&#xA0;surely&#xA0;now should sense that,&#xA0;and if they don&#x2019;t really distance themselves from the insanity and&#xA0;realign somehow with the the more enlightened majority &#xA0;it&#xA0;&#x3C;em&#x3E;will&#x3C;/em&#x3E;&#xA0;bite them in 2020.. This also implies a modicum of&#xA0;motive for them to trim their Trumpian sails and actually&#xA0;work with the Dems on infrastructure, ACA next year.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Further, some of these senators&#xA0;presumably surmise an impending erosion of Trumpism clearly demonstrated by this midterm&#xA0;rout, Mueller and even Trump&#x2019;s subsequent&#xA0;reckless action&#xA0;and insane presser&#xA0;the very&#xA0;next day after the loss of the house. That along with the expectation that multiple&#xA0;investigations will inevitably yield more damning PR.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;I expect to see a few more conservative senators suddenly moderating, led perhaps by the incoming and (now) anti-Trump Mitt Romney&#xA0;and others who may actually endeavor to work with&#xA0;Pelosi&#x2019;s&#xA0;well focused bipartisan agenda. If just a few do crossover, the effective majority of the senate may well prove less a threat to progressive values.&#xA0;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
