Were it not for the gerrymandering and the Fox News fear and anger-indoctrinated rural voters, more of their seats <em>would</em> have flipped. They surely now should sense that, and if they don’t really distance themselves from the insanity and realign somehow with the the more enlightened majority  it <em>will</em> bite them in 2020.. This also implies a modicum of motive for them to trim their Trumpian sails and actually work with the Dems on infrastructure, ACA next year.</p> <p>Further, some of these senators presumably surmise an impending erosion of Trumpism clearly demonstrated by this midterm rout, Mueller and even Trump’s subsequent reckless action and insane presser the very next day after the loss of the house. That along with the expectation that multiple investigations will inevitably yield more damning PR.</p> <p>I expect to see a few more conservative senators suddenly moderating, led perhaps by the incoming and (now) anti-Trump Mitt Romney and others who may actually endeavor to work with Pelosi’s well focused bipartisan agenda.
