He made something of a name for himself working under Seth Meyers at Saturday Night Live. A few months back he was on Seth Meyers’ late-night show, promoting a new stand-up special on Netflix—both of his stand-up shows are worth watching. Meyers asked him to relate an old joke Mulaney used to have about Donald Trump, before Trump became the Republican nominee for president. Of the United States. Of America. Mulaney’s original joke was about how Donald Trump wasn’t really like a real rich person as much as he is what you would imagine a comic-book hobo would conceive of as a rich person.
