<title>Joe Biden Contradicts Himself on Osama Bin Laden Raid</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/10/20/1435905/-Joe-Biden-Contradicts-Himself-on-Osama-Bin-Laden-Raid</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Wait, isn&#x27;t Joe supposed to be Mr. Honest, unlike some other candidates? He first sold himself as less hawkish, and admitted his initial opposition to the raid which ended the evil terrorist Osama Bin Laden, who murdered 3000 Americans. Now, he&#x27;s trying to &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/joe-biden-claims-privately-supported-bin-laden-raid/story?id=34598670&#x22;&#x3E;rewrite history&#x3C;/a&#x3E;:&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>The CIA allowed a US informant to plan a massive terrorist attack</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/11/12/1255128/-The-CIA-allowed-a-US-informant-to-plan-a-massive-terrorist-attack</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;So fucked up: In &#x27;08 the CIA knowingly allowed a US informant to plan a massive terrorist attack, setting off bombs and gunning down 166 people in downtown Bombay.&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;A terrible call was made, a narrow self interested one, to allow Headley to run on, with the promise that bin Laden might be captured and Mumbai was, in one sense, sacrificed along the way.

<title>Teahadi Dawn: A terrorist cell more destructive than Osama, Hitler, and Napolean put together </title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/10/8/1245305/-Teahadi-Dawn-A-terrorist-cell-more-destructive-than-Osama-Hitler-and-Napolean-put-together</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;After many years of congressional gridlock I&#x27;ve come to a very dire conclusion based on observations, political/economic insight, third party opinion, and statistical inference. I give full credit to where they are due, but I must say making this point must bring about immediate change or &#x3C;em&#x3E;we will fall not only as a nation but as a society to be mirrored throughout the developing world&#x3C;/em&#x3E;.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Before we dive into lala-land, I think a stark history lesson is in for all kossaks. The American principles of Liberal vs. Conservative ideology has existed since the revolution. Best example to point would be Ben Franklin&#x27;s moderate (or by today&#x27;s definition left-wing) ideology to John Adams (Right-wing) ideology. Both parties loved this country, but both had very different views on how government should be run. &#x3C;strong&#x3E;Where moderate principles involved the rights of all men as equal and free. Federalists (right-wing) required &#x22;power must be opposed to power&#x22;, and even &#x22;ambition must be counteracted upon by an equal ambition&#x22;.&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; This tug-o-war has been played out so many times, people seem to think something new all of a sudden is happening with the current political climate.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Practical Challenges of Exploiting AlQaeda&#x27;s Leadership Vacuum</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/7/1/990620/-Practical-Challenges-of-Exploiting-AlQaeda-s-Leadership-Vacuum</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Osama bin Ladin&#x27;s death raises questions of future directions for the terrorist Al Qaeda group.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;This Kos diary outlines some practical problems with attempting to exploit this leadership vacuum.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;This information is not intended to be used to advocate Al Qaeda objectives, nor engage in any unlawful discussion.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Unlawful Remote USB Storage Monitoring: Are There Adequate Judicial Reviews Through FISA Warrants?</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/5/14/976093/-Unlawful-Remote-USB-Storage-Monitoring-Are-There-Adequate-Judicial-Reviews-Through-FISA-Warrants</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;There&#x2019;s been some discussion about the methods the US government used to glean intelligence from interrogation to find OBL couriers. &#x26;nbsp;Part of the mystery relates to other sources of intelligence such as the USB flash drives.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;One consequence of debating intelligence related to couriers is this overshadows public discussion of relevant USB monitoring legal compliance programs which affect the American public. &#x26;nbsp;The US government&#x2019;s disclosure of these USB flash drives, and the convoluted trail to use interrogation information should raise some eyebrows. We&#x2019;re not hearing the straight story for a reason. It appears there&#x2019;s a legal issue related to how similar electronic systems are (a) deployed stateside and (b) appropriately reviewed by Judiciary.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;The information below may be able to provide some other sources of information as to whether there are or are not adequate legal compliance programs regulating the monitoring of USB flash drives. &#x26;nbsp;The diary may provide some useful background material for FOIA requests related to the FISA Amendment Act, via &#x3C;a href=&#x22;%E2%80%9Dhttp://www.aclu.org/national-security/faa-foia-documents%E2%80%9D&#x22;&#x3E;ACLU&#x3C;/a&#x3E;; and provide some other lines of inquiry of interest to &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.eff.org/issues/foia&#x22;&#x3E;EFF&#x3C;/a&#x3E;.&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>FBI, NSA: Why So Slow Tracking OBL Couriers?</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/5/13/975846/-FBI-NSA-Why-So-Slow-Tracking-OBL-Couriers</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Documents from &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2011/04/CIPAV_Post&#x22;&#x3E;2006&#x3C;/a&#x3E; &#x26;nbsp;show the US intelligence community had tools to track IP numbers.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;It&#x27;s unclear why it took until 2011 for the US to &#x22;connect the dots&#x22; on where the OBL couriers were uploading data; and how they were connected to OBL.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>False Equivalence</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/5/9/974536/-False-Equivalence</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;I keep seeing people say that if you kill a terrorist leader, you become a legitimate target yourself for that same terrorist group. Is legitimacy in targeting simply a function of children&#x27;s playground practice of tit for tat?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;By that same logic since Bin Laden killed 3000 American Civilians we could legitimately exterminate 3000 Bin Ladian civilians? Is that how it works, this school of legitimate targeting?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Do relative moral grounds on which both sides stand in light of their activities not matter? An elected democratic leader of a country that was brutally attacked is not at all justified in eliminating a leader of an international murder gang, without becoming a legitimate target for that same international murder gang?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Does that really make sense to some of you?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;When a side that is objectively in the right (the right to want to kill Osama due to his actions) kills the side that is objectively in the wrong (Osama), do those moral placements not matter whatsoever?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;And if they do not, how then does International Law provide for defending your country from an attack, since the mere act of killing attackers somehow confers legitimacy on those attackers to kill you back again.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;I swear that is a vicious circle of legitimate wanking.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Would we not really want to target Hitler, simply because he was a leader of a government regardless of his actions?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Some say that this is against international law. Which international law?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Some say that this is against the rules of war. Which rules of war?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Andy Card is a jerk</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/5/7/974050/-Andy-Card-is-a-jerk</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Actually, he&#x27;s worse than that, but I&#x27;m not allowed to put that in the title. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Andy Card, former Bush II White House Chief of Staff, has really broken all his own rules this time. &#x26;nbsp;In an interview overseas (!) with German newspaper &#x3C;em&#x3E;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/0,1518,761162,00.html&#x22;&#x3E;Der Spiegel&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/em&#x3E;, Card was asked about his thoughts on the raid of OBL&#x27;s compound culminating in the death of a world-reviled terrorist thug.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;SPIEGEL:&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; But now President Obama is the big winner&#x2026;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;strong&#x3E;Card:&#x3C;/strong&#x3E; I think he has pounded his chest a little too much. He can take pride in it, but he does not need to show it so much. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Really? &#x26;nbsp;Referring to a sitting President, our first black President, as a gorilla? &#x26;nbsp;To a foreign newspaper? &#x26;nbsp;About a situation that the GOP once held with such patriotic fervor that any criticism of the President was verboten? &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;By all accounts, Condoleeza Rice appears to be a smart woman. Smart in the book sense, that is.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Not smart when it comes to foreign policy. Not smart when it comes to evaluating national security. Not smart when it comes to admitting mistakes, because after all, that&#x27;s a fruitless exercise. She&#x27;ll tell you herself.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;And she&#x27;s especially not smart when discussing Iraq.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Glenn Greenwald Nails It</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/5/7/973939/-Glenn-Greenwald-Nails-It</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Okay, I admit it &#x2013; I grew tired of Greenwald&#x27;s constant critiquing of President Obama &#x26;nbsp;after OBL was killed. In fact, he almost lost me, the droning was so insistent.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;But this morning&#x27;s entry by Greenwald, &#x22;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.salon.com/news/opinion/glenn_greenwald/2011/05/07/awlaki/index.html&#x22;&#x3E;U.S. tries to assassinate U.S. citizen Anwar al-Awlaki&#x3C;/a&#x3E;,&#x22; is so devastatingly sharp and terrifyingly poignant it hurts.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Anyone who rightfully blasted President Bush for moving beyond his constitutional authorities (warrantless wiretaps, anyone?) cannot ignore what Obama has done, what he is now doing, what he intends to do.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;In our post-OBL revelry, we cannot allow this to quietly fade...&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>The Killing Of OBL</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/5/6/973625/-The-Killing-Of-OBL</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;People here have heard me say over and over again I am a military brat. My father worked at high-levels within the DoD. Well the other day I am reading some fantasy book and my phone starts to jump up off the table. Text messages from dad saying OBL is dead. Dead.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Now I consider myself a pretty non-violent dude. But I am on the record here saying a double-tap to the head for somebody like OBL isn&#x27;t a bad thing .....&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;I am rethinking that below the fold.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;My initial plan was to put together something of a &#x22;stream of consciousness&#x22; diary. A few musing of mine on the current events of the past few days that would hopefully add to the discourse and dialog here in the Land of Orange. Unfortunately... I found &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://blog.seattlepi.com/seattlepolitics/2011/05/05/koch-obama-didnt-contribute-much-at-all/&#x22;&#x3E;a particular article.&#x3C;/a&#x3E; At which point, all my nebulous musings and waxing philosophical flew right out the window. My own personal response follows the fold.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;This would be Obama as Beouwulf. The archetypal hero who slays the beast. There are deep, deep group psychosocial implications to this. And I think Obama understood that going in.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;There was no &#x22;Mission Accomplished&#x22; banner. No codpiece. No false bravado. No rejoicing. No call to rejoice. No tooting his own horn.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>Osama&#x27;s murder, a Cause for Celebration?</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/5/2/972386/-Osama-s-murder-a-Cause-for-Celebration</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;I am still struggling with the simple question, is President Obama right? Were the last 10 years of sacrifice, struggle and war made tangible yesterday with the death of Osama? Was it all worth it? &#x26;nbsp;Watching the flash celebrations last night in front of the White House, at Ground Zero in Times Square and in town squares across the country I was confronted with an entire generation of young Americans who have become adults in an age that has proven that American might does not always make right &#x2013; that it can&#x2019;t always protect our shores. &#x26;nbsp;A generation that has known the costs and burdens of two wars that cannot be won in the same ways of the past. &#x26;nbsp;A generation that finds their country responsible for 45% of the world&#x2019;s military spending while shortchanging humanitarian and diplomatic efforts abroad. &#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>MSM claims foreknowledge of major terrorists activity</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/12/28/427142/-MSM-claims-foreknowledge-of-major-terrorists-activity</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;The mainstream press is widely reporting starting yesterday, that the world&#x27;s most wanted terrorist, Osama Bin Laden, is soon going to send out a new video, before OBL even does it.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Are the still-unnamed sources of the media, really accurate?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Who are their sources?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;How can their sources accurately predict the actions of a terrorist?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Why hasn&#x27;t OBL been captured? &#x26;nbsp;How can the source accurately predict the actions of OBL, but not his location?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
