<title>What Could End the Standoff in Oregon? Turns Out, Chris Christie in a Loincloth</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2016/1/25/1475115/-What-Could-End-the-Standoff-in-Oregon-Turns-Out-Chris-Christie-in-a-Loincloth</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;In the latest chapter of the bizarre and seemingly endless saga at Oregon&#x2019;s Malheur Refuge, &#x3C;em&#x3E;The Oregonian&#x2019;s &#x3C;/em&#x3E;Joseph Rose &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.oregonlive.com/geek/2016/01/watch_oregon_militant_challeng.html&#x22; target=&#x22;_blank&#x22; title=&#x22;&#x22;&#x3E;reports&#x3C;/a&#x3E; that an end may at last be in sight:&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;blockquote&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;One of the more broad-in-the-beam &#x22;patriots&#x22; has posted a YouTube video with a bizarro challenge to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie: Come to Oregon and battle him in 10 sumo rounds.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;/blockquote&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;It isn&#x2019;t clear just why the man identified as Kelly Gneiting would challenge Governor Christie instead of, say, Oregon&#x2019;s Governor Kate Brown or the Harney County Sheriff or President Obama, but I have to admit a match with Christie would be entertaining.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;In case anyone wants to see the challenge, which Mr. Gneiting posted to his personal YouTube channel, here it is.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;div class=&#x22;center-block dk-editor-embed&#x22;&#x3E;
&#x3C;div class=&#x22;remove-embed-content&#x22;&#x3E;x&#x3C;/div&#x3E;
&#x3C;a href=&#x22;false&#x22; title=&#x22;&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;a class=&#x22;iframe_placeholder youtube dk-embed&#x22; href=&#x22;//youtube.com/watch?v=N8TTWujUGsU&#x22; data-src=&#x22;https://www.youtube.com/embed/N8TTWujUGsU&#x22; data-height=&#x22;315&#x22; data-width=&#x22;560&#x22;&#x3E;YouTube Video&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/a&#x3E;
&#x3C;/div&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#xA0;Leaving aside the sheer absurdity of the thing, it almost makes sense for Christie to take up the challenge. He could certainly use some good PR, and just about everyone would welcome the end of the occupation.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;After all, something not dissimilar worked for Canada&#x2019;s new PM, Justin Trudeau. &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/justin-trudeau-watch-canada-s-prime-minister-fight-a-conservative-senator-in-a-charity-boxing-match-a6703026.html&#x22; target=&#x22;_blank&#x22; title=&#x22;&#x22;&#x3E;His victory in a charity boxing match&#x3C;/a&#x3E; helped make him a name of his own beyond that of his famous father.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;So I say let&#x2019;s draft Chris Christie. If he&#x2019;s as tough as he says he is, surely a sumo match with some Idaho yokel will be no trouble at all.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>&#x22;Judge&#x22; to convene &#x22;grand jury&#x22; in Oregon standoff</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2016/1/13/1469384/--Judge-to-convene-grand-jury-in-Oregon-standoff</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.oregonlive.com/oregon-standoff/2016/01/self-appointed_judge_arrives_i.html&#x22; target=&#x22;_blank&#x22;&#x3E;&#x3C;em&#x3E;The Oregonian&#x3C;/em&#x3E;&#xA0;reports&#x3C;/a&#x3E; that a Denver man who has proclaimed himself a US Superior Court judge has arrived in Burns to convene a citizens grand jury to hear evidence against government officials and if necessary charge them.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Bruce Ducette, a 54-year old computer repairman, has evidently intervened in other property cases. He says that Harney County residents invited him, and that he will preside over an extra-legal citizens grand jury but &#x201C;&#x3C;span&#x3E;The role of a superior court judge is not very glorified. All we do is write up&#x22;. So I guess if a real judicial official decides to prosecute, Ducette shouldn&#x27;t be held responsible for whatever decision the grand jury reaches.&#x3C;/span&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;Even more bizarre, though, it seems that &#x201C;Judge&#x201D; Ducette is not alone. The same article mentions another self-appointed judge calling herself Anna von Reitz. If you dare, you can find her personal website &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://annavonreitz.com/&#x22; target=&#x22;_blank&#x22;&#x3E;here&#x3C;/a&#x3E;. Von Reitz has used her &#x201C;powers&#x201D; to issue arrest warrants against essentially the entire federal government, which her &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.amazon.com/You-Know-Something-Wrong-When/dp/1491279184/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&#x26;amp;qid=1444223112&#x26;amp;sr=8-1&#x26;amp;keywords=you+know+something+is+wrong+when&#x22; target=&#x22;_blank&#x22;&#x3E;book&#x3C;/a&#x3E; describes as a &#x201C;corrupt corporate entity&#x201D;.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
