<title>The burning bush of progressivism</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/5/3/1206640/-The-burning-bush-of-progressivism</link>
<description>
&#x3C;p&#x3E;Take your sandals from your feet, America. We&#x27;ve climbed the mountain, and stand on the holy ground of progressivism. Feel the heat of rigorous, enforceable gun laws. See the burning triumph of love over intolerance in the fight for marriage equality. Hear your own meek voices rising to a crescendo on immigration reform, fair wages and feeding the hungry.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
&#x3C;p&#x3E;The call has gone out. Though rainmaker lobbyists and extreme ideologues have unleashed a hell storm of fire on sanity and common sense, our republic will not be consumed. Tell the stiff necked in Congress, more beholden to what is good for their careers than what is good for the country, to let our government go, that it may worship the reality of a functional America.&#x3C;br /&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>And in Iraq, the winner is...</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/5/31/341548/-And-in-Iraq-the-winner-is</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;Foreign Policy Magazine&#x27;s March/April issue asked the question: who has come out ahead in Iraq? For their ten answers. the magazine contacted ten scholars to write a short essay. The results were engaging and informative. &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.foreignpolicy.com/story/cms.php?story_id=3704&#x22;&#x3E;A few of the essays are available on the FP Magazine website&#x3C;/a&#x3E;, while others are restricted to subscribers. Excerpts are reproduced below along with my own thoughts on them.

<title>Responding To Simon Rosenberg Regarding Iran</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/12/12/280309/-Responding-To-Simon-Rosenberg-Regarding-Iran</link>
<description>&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;sup&#x3E;&#x3C;em&#x3E;originally posted &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://agonist.org/sean_paul_kelley/20061211/responding_to_simon_rosenberg_of_ndn_regarding_iran&#x22;&#x3E;here&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/em&#x3E;&#x3C;/sup&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;To Simon Rosenberg, NDN:&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;As you know &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/11/13/14136/137&#x22;&#x3E;I just returned from Iran a few weeks ago&#x3C;/a&#x3E; and have a decidedly different take on the general consensus concerning Iran, &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://www.ndnblog.org/?q=node/530&#x22;&#x3E;a take that is also different from yours in many ways.&#x3C;/a&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;I think first, you (and many, many others) overestimate the &#x27;cultural&#x27; similarities between Iranian Shi&#x27;a and Arab Shi&#x27;a. I cannot tell you how many times I heard Iranians &#x27;dis the Arab Shi&#x27;a as uncouth and uncilized and, they say it was the Persians who brought them &#x27;real&#x27; culture. Does the Iranian government support the Shi&#x27;a in Iraq? Yes, of course. But those ties are not nearly as strong as the media--Nasr included--leads people to believe. (I know &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://stevegilliard.blogspot.com/&#x22;&#x3E;Steve Gilliard&#x3C;/a&#x3E;is going to say, &#x3C;em&#x3E;&#x22;but they can still cut-off our supply lines if they want.&#x22;&#x3C;/em&#x3E; And he&#x27;s right, so is &#x3C;a href=&#x22;http://turcopolier.typepad.com/sic_semper_tyrannis/&#x22;&#x3E;Col. Lang.&#x3C;/a&#x3E; But that&#x27;s a confluence of interests, not culture.)&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

<title>The Dangers of Wagging-the-Dog, Iranian Style</title>
<link>https://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/10/3/253151/-The-Dangers-of-Wagging-the-Dog-Iranian-Style</link>
<description>Invading Iran with The Bomb

&#x3C;p&#x3E;In light of the current GOP implosion ongoing in the House of Representatives, it&#x27;s important to look a few moves ahead on the chessboard. While I&#x27;m all for keeping the pressure on every blessed Republican CongressCritter to denounce not only Foley but the House Leadership as well, we need to be mindful of what the neo-con nuts in Cheney&#x27;s office might be doing now to correct the situation.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;

&#x3C;p&#x3E;What scares the bejeebus out of me is that they&#x27;re probably dusting off the invasion plans for Iran.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;</description>
