Ladies and gentlemen, please prepare for your in-flight freakout:
Passengers screamed and stood on their seats and flight attendants told people to cover their legs after two tarantulas were spotted loose in the cabin of an Air Transat flight.
The spiders, which reportedly ranged from 10 to 20 centimetres in diameter, were aboard a Montreal-bound flight from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, on April 18.
Authorities believe a passenger brought them onboard:
Normandin said it may have been hidden in a passenger's luggage for resale.
"The market for live tarantulas is very lucrative," he said, adding that Phormictopus cancerides is a species that is often sold.
Needless to say, nobody took ownership of the renegade tarantulas.
