The House Democrats' sit-in for gun safety legislation continues, but you have to follow it on Twitter with the hashtag #NoBillNoBreak—because Speaker Paul Ryan shut the cameras down.
C-SPAN has made it clear that it has no control over the cameras in the House. They have "gavel-to-gavel" coverage, and when the Speaker orders the House gaveled out, they have to turn off the cameras. It's in the rules, as is a prohibition for House members using cameras. The Sergeant at Arms of the House has shut down their cameras.
Ryan has also shut down the public.
You can't watch it in person, by going into the House gallery. And you can't watch it on television. Because Paul Ryan isn't allowing that. But the world is watching, anyway.
We need more members of Congress like this. Add your name thanking these Democrats for taking a stand.
Update: As you can see below, not everyone is heeding the Sergeant at Arms’ ban. Good for them!
