One of Trump’s favorite lines is that Hillary has been in public life for 30 years and still hasn’t prevented him from skating by without paying taxes, hasn’t solved racism, hasn’t done whatever charge crosses his petty, little mind at the time. Hilary patiently goes through a few of her achievements, and he just says it again. It’s not working. This is one of his go-to attacks, the anti-establishment attack, and the campaign needs to do better against it. What seems to have been missed is that this attack is a “tell” of his mindset.
This man has no idea how a Democracy functions. He has spent his life in a wealthy, privileged bubble. Given his wealth, given his privilege, given his willingness to use both as viciously as necessary to get what he wants, it just never has occurred to him that a single Senator, a single cabinet member, a single citizen cannot just magically bring about anything they desire. His experience in the private sector has been the opposite, in large part because his desires all have been self-centered.
The campaign needs to point out that, despite what The Donald thinks, a Senator is not an Emperor. Despite what The Donald thinks, a President is not an Emperor. And despite The Donald’s experience as part of the 1% (assuming he really is, pending release of his tax returns), he is applying for a job as the head of a Democracy. He is setting himself up for quite a surprise should he somehow win.
