It’s time to push back hard and unrelentingly against Trump’s latest big lie: that the media is biased against him. That has become his and his peoples’ response to everything. It must not stand.
It is time to remind people that the media created Trump. Without their free air time, their creation of his image as an outsider tapping into a deep, cavernous vein of seething anger, their fawning over his disdain for convention not to mention civility (as was the regional case in the rise of Chris Christie), Trump would have been an asterisks after New Hampshire — maybe before.
It is time to remind people that the media then went out of their way for months to normalize, to legitimize, every ugly thing that Trump was and said and did.
It is time to point out the one thing that Trump never would see and that his enablers, like Pence and Conway, see but never would admit: Trump’s press has turned uniformly negative because his own pronouncements finally have made it undeniable that he is an unstable, maniacal, authoritarian threat to our democracy.
