Last week, I wrote a diary about Don Ernst, an Arkansan who had to call ***18 times*** to get an answer re: what Senator Tom Cotton intended to do about the opioid crisis (something that has impacted Ernst’s family directly). And the “answer” he finally got? A “cease and desist” letter, threatening to send the Capitol police after him if he called again.
Well, we thought we’d try calling Cotton’s office directly, to ask ourselves. And the answer we got?
“The Senator has not released a statement on that, and I am unable to speak on his behalf.” (Click for audio)
The opioid crisis — the prime driver for a massive increase in deaths from overdoses — is something he does not have a position on. Or at least if he does, he has not told his office.
We tried for several minutes to get an answer, even something as simple as, “he thinks it’s bad!” It was truly painful.
Listen to the call yourself, if you want.
And then why not give a call to Cotton’s office yourself (202-224-2353), and ask him if he has finally found the time to come up with a statement on what is nothing less than a national crisis.
