How to win a gun control debate with knee-jerk opponents of sensible reform

Don’t do it. That’s how you win.

You know all those f***ing morons who claim gun laws make no difference, in spite of overwhelming evidence? The ones who show up on your Facebook feed, spouting the same old tired NRA talking points, trying to draw you into a debate?

Stop arguing with them. Stop trying to convince them. They're f***ing morons. They're flat Earthers. Don't waste time arguing with idiots.

Instead, write Congress. Write your state officials. Call them. Show up at town halls. Demand meetings. Keep pushing. The NRA is only invincible if we stop fighting. Or if we waste time arguing with idiots, instead of taking action.

I know, I know, it’s just so tempting to try to engage them. To point out their flawed logic, and to overwhelm their nonsense with actual facts and data. But they don’t care. They are immune to reality.

90% of Americans support sensible gun control reforms. And the other 10% are simply the NRA’s useful idiots, trying to distract you from doing something useful by drawing you into an argument.

Ignore them. And if you feel that you absolutely must respond, then save some time by cutting and pasting these convenient options:

1) This wonderful compilation of movie middle fingers

2) “Derp”. Just repeat over and over again.

3) This image of a unicorn farting a rainbow

Basically, just don’t waste your time on things and people that don’t matter.

Focus on the steps that really can make a difference.
