Superheroes; the Good Guys with Guns (tm)

It seems like the movie industry is totally obsessed with superheroes these day. 2017 was a big year for superhero movies, and this year looks like there will be even more.

I can’t say that I hate superhero movies, or even that I’ve never enjoyed any of them. However, more and more I can’t escape the conclusion that they’re really just the “the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun” fantasy writ large. It depresses me that this is where the collective psyche of our country is.
