NBC is reporting that a suspect in the series of bombs mailed to Democratic politicians and critics of Donald Trump has been taken into custody in Florida. The suspect is male, but few other details are currently available.
CNN is saying that a suspect has been “arrested” while MSNBC is saying only that a man has been brought in for “questioning” related to the case. More information should be available shortly. One of the bombs located in the last 24 hours was found at a Florida mail facility that was the subject of a prolonged search. It appears that the suspect lived in the area near Miami.
A press conference has been slated for 2:30 PM ET.
Authorities have towed away a white van that appears to be covered in stickers and signs featuring the GOP logo, the presidential seal, and images of Trump. There is also a large amount of text on the van, some of which seems to reproduce Trump statements or tweets.
Trump held a rally in Florida on Jul 31 in support of Rick Scott and a previous one in 2017. It would be interesting to know if this white van was present at either.
Authorities have covered the van, blocking the view of the political images that covered it on all sides.
