Vox has the story here: www.vox.com/….  And the victims of the USS Cole bombing are angry.

The Trump administration has sided with the brutally repressive country of Sudan — and against American terrorist attack victims — in a lawsuit currently before the Supreme Court, angering victims and veterans groups.

The amoral logic is to make it more difficult for victims of alleged US war crimes to sue us by filing at their local US Embassy.  Similar to voter suppression tactics, the victims are less likely to file if they have to bring their case to a specific desk at the State Department in DC.

So the Trump administration is siding with a repressive government in order to protect itself from future legal trouble. That’s by no means a moral stance, but it is a very self-interested one.

Voters who claim to support our military, oppose state-sponsored terrorists like Al Qaeda or pretend to follow the precepts of Christianity, need to explain how they can support Trump in cases like this.

“Our own country, siding with the country that harbors terrorists,” David Matthew Morales, who was injured on the ship, told reporters on Wednesday. “It was very hurtful.”
