It's a post worth attention, as I think most folks have a serious lack of understanding when it comes to the critical nature of blood donation. And while I wholeheartedly supported crabby's post, I feel it's my duty to expand upon it, and to clarify some aspects. In no way am I diminishing the message of the OP. I simply want to expand on it. Or.... As you will soon come to discover... Drown y'all in information. Seems like the right place to do it though eh?
This will be a series of posts, but I hope to engage this amazing community to embrace an additional cause. A cause that truly impacts lives on a daily basis. And politics mean nothing in this realm. You only have to roll up your sleeve, and share your experience with those around you.
I'm incredibly buried at work right now, so I can't get into details. No worries.... I will drown y'all in details as this dialogue begins and continues. A few significant and horrifying reminders of the importance of donations...
Pulse, 9/11, Vegas.
Who saved lives on these horrifying days? The folks that lined up after the fact (and bless those people. We needed them.... To an extent) or the folks who were coming in to donate and put the products we needed on the shelf before those tragedies happened?
I only ask as a segue into some more detailed discussion. I've found in my years that the best way to engage with folks is to find what they connect with. We'll start here and let the conversation go it's natural course. I do plan to interject new diaries as often as I can to open new lines of dialogue. I will do my best to respond to all questions and comments.
So why am I doing this?
Simple. This is my life. The OP made me realize I was squandering one of the best outlets I have to engage and educate a group of folks who would get what I have to say. Folks who care. Folks who are curious. Folks who will push me to find answers to questions I haven't thought of. Folks who will spread the word.
I hope to convince this community that you have a way to positively impact your community without politics.
Keep doing the politics though!! It's why I'm here.
But we have other ways to directly impact lives.
