That core, previously anti-Russian Republican senators upheld the WH push to lift sanctions on one of Putin’s key oligarchs initially blew my mind. I thought, along with Schumer’s live interview on Maddow last night, he had 60 votes to quash it. Well, turns out he was three votes short.
After recoiling from this, it immediately hit me that these erstwhile Russian hawks, i.e. McConnnel, Graham, etc. who voted for it, must know that Putin has such dirt on Trump and probably others in their illustrious party… dirt so damning that they are now forced to unabashedly vote Putin’s whims.
These senators must know a lot more of what Putin has than we hear about and, for them not to “cooperate” must mean political suicide. Why else would they now vote in such stark contradiction to all they have espoused against Russia?
It’s no wonder the Special Counsel’s work never seems to end. Could the corruption be so pervasive, so expansive as to involve some of these Republican senators? Voting, at this time for their otherwise Republican heresy?
And by doing so, might they themselves be in Mueller’s purview?
