House Democrats have leaped into action to condemn anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, and other forms of hate. Majority Leader Steny Hoyer announced that the vote would come Thursday and would not name Rep. Ilhan Omar, whose comments critical of the role of Israel in U.S. politics spurred this action.
The expansion of the resolution to name not just anti-Semitism but also Islamophobia, and the exclusion of Omar’s name, came after pressure from the left.
There were never any plans to name Republican Reps. Jim Jordan or Steve King for their anti-Semitic or white nationalist statements.
Here's the text of the resolution.
