In a now-private Facebook post, an Ohio Republican blamed basically everyone and everything—from pot to drag queens to immigrants to “fatherlessness” to President Obama—for the recent mass shooting terror attacks that stole the lives of dozens of people, including 22 in Texas and nine in her home state.
"Why not place the blame where it belongs," complained state Rep. Candice Keller, proceeding to point to "the breakdown of the traditional American family (thank you, transgender, homosexual marriage, and drag queen advocates)”—interestingly, no mention of a thrice-married president—“open borders,” “hatred of our veterans,” “violent video games,” “snowflakes,” “failed school policies,” and “professional athletes,” just to name a few.
There was no mention of mass killing machines, or of white supremacy, which definitely led to the killing of 22 in El Paso. Nor did Keller clarify why “open borders” led to that massacre, when it was the white supremacist who drove nine hours to terrorize this peaceful community. This isn’t the first time Keller has expressed terrible opinions relating to mass shootings either, standing by her statement that a Parkland activist who was speaking out about their experience “would just as soon be eating Doritos and playing video games.”
“Keller’s post,” The Washington Post reported, “sent shock waves through the state and local Republican Party, where there is a groundswell of calls from fellow conservatives urging her to resign.” Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones is trying to save face, claiming it’s “an embarrassment. It’s shameful. It does not reflect our party, our community, or the people who are hurting right now. She only left out people who look like her.” Sounds a bit like the guy leading the party too.
