November’s Democratic presidential debate will have four moderators, all of them women. Rachel Maddow was already one of the moderators of the June debate. She will be joined by Andrea Mitchell and Kristen Welker of NBC News and Ashley Parker of The Washington Post.
Maddow can be expected to be a bright spot, and Mitchell can be expected to be a fount of establishment common wisdom, which is to say a dark spot.
The Nov. 20 debate is sponsored by MSNBC and The Washington Post. Nine candidates have qualified so far: former Vice President Joe Biden; Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, and Cory Booker; Mayor Pete Buttigieg; Andrew Yang; and Tom Steyer.
While this isn’t the first time a debate has had all women moderators, it’s safe to say that, between moderators and candidates, this will be the most women ever on a debate stage.
