Rudy Giuliani, the man Donald Trump trusted to become his top cybersecurity adviser in 2017, is raising eyebrows after he butt dialed an NBC reporter and left a curious three-minute-long voicemail. Amazingly enough, this is the second time he’s butt dialed the reporter this month.
NBC reporter Rich Shapiro says the call came in late on Oct. 16, and Giuliani could immediately be heard discussing “Charles” and a fraud case. Shapiro writes, “’You know,’ Giuliani says at the start of the recording. ‘Charles would have a hard time with a fraud case ‘cause he didn’t do any due diligence.’”
No indications who Charles would be, but we’re guessing the public will be finding out sooner than later! Although some of the message was mumbled, and it was unclear who Giuliani was talking to, the next part of the call, in which he discussed the need for a whole lotta cash, came in loud and clear:
“Is Robert around?” Giuliani asks.
“He’s in Turkey,” the man responds.
Giuliani replies instantly. “The problem is we need some money.”
The two men then go silent. Nine seconds pass. No word is spoken. Then Giuliani chimes in again.
“We need a few hundred thousand,” he says.
It’s unclear what the two men were talking about. But Giuliani is known to have worked closely with a Robert who has ties to Turkey.
His name is Robert Mangas, and he’s a lawyer at the firm Greenberg Traurig LLP, as well as a registered agent of the Turkish government.
Giuliani himself was employed by Greenberg Traurig until about May 2018.
Back to Turkey. Isn’t it amazing that so many people around Donald Trump seem to be advocating for Turkey’s goals? Yes, the same Turkey currently invading the Kurdish region of Syria. Just at the time when Donald Trump shocked Pentagon and congressional officials with an about-face in Turkey, it is something that all these Trump hangers-on seem to be in and around Turkey.
Just 18 days earlier, Giuliani butt dialed the same reporter, this time accidentally leaving a three-minute voicemail trashing the Bidens.
Giuliani spends the entire three minutes railing against the Bidens. He can be heard recycling many of the unfounded allegations he has been making on cable news and in interviews with print reporters.
Isn’t it incredible that Donald Trump entrusted this man with cybersecurity, of all things? I doubt Giuliani could successfully log in to his own iTunes account, let alone keep the nation secure from hacking.
