I am just about ready to leave for the airport to go from Sydney, New South Wales to Las Vegas, Nevada to work on the Kerry-Edwards Campaign. YEAHHHH!
My enthusiasm is a bit dampened as a result of the Australian Federal elections here yesterday, I had a sneaking suspicion that the Conservatives would get back in, but I thought it would only be just falling over the line and in fact they have increased their majority in the Lower House. UGHHHH!
I thought that this would be balanced by the Greens who may have gained the balance of power in the Senate. The Greens, whom I campaigned for here, did very well which was the one faint silver lining in the whole night. Tasmania will now pick up its 2nd Green Senate seat with Christine Milne, famous conservationist who stopped the Wesley Vale Pulp Mill, YEAAHHHH! This is fantastic. We are also in play for new Senate seats in Western Australia and Queensland.
The problem is that in the Victoria Senate seat we are neck and neck with a small fundy Christian Party, and if the fundies pull it out, they will likely hold the balance of power. SUPER UGHHHHHH!
Anyway keep your fingers crossed that the Greens prevail.
So off to Las Vegas with a renewed conviction that the loss we just had in Australia will not be repeated in the USA. So I will be working my butt off for the next 3 weeks to PAINT NEVADA BLUE!!! GOOOOOO KERRY-EDWARDS!!!!
CANT WAIT TO JOIN YOU ALL!!!
I will try to keep the diary updated daily, once I hit the ground in Nevada.
