Ah, we live in interesting times.
Rumor has it that supposed gay sex activist Ken Mehlman is next in line for position as RNC chairman. If these allegations are true, it sounds like the Bush Administration is trying to drive the influence of rank perverts like Mehlman like a stake into the heart of Heartland America.
Sexual purity, abstinence, pure, unadulterated heterosexuality, sex whose only goal is reproduction, pleasureless, Paulist, dead, dutiful, marital sex.
These are the values that the Republican Party peddled to American voters in this election season.
So why now would they try to put an alleged sex deviant into the highest office in their party? The mind boggles.
I'm pretty confused.
The Republican Party's campaign focused so much on sex ... Repressed sex, anger at sex, homosexuality, reproductive and non-reproductive sex, man-on-dog sex ...
And now this Ken Mehlman thing.
Why do they keep bring sex into public life? In whose interest is this constant focus on sex, drumming out people on the basis of sex, trying to wedge sex and sexuality into every public conversation, trying to make every campaign about sex?
I'm not exactly a Puritan, but hearing so much about this is starting to make me queasy. Can't we leave private things private for once?
What is up with Ken Mehlman anyway?
We will see Ken Mehlman quickly marry.
