Poll: Americans what ROE UPHELD

The poll found that 59 percent say Bush should choose a nominee who would uphold the 1973 Roe v. Wade (news - web sites) decision that legalized abortion. About three in 10, 31 percent, said they want a nominee who would overturn the decision, according to the poll conducted for the AP by Ipsos-Public Affairs.

Dick Morris said that he felt if the GOP pushed too hard on abortion, they'd be sorry. He said the country is pro-choice. For once, and probably only once, Morris is right.

Bush has an interesting and fun dilemma on abortion. Get rid of reproductive rights, and you piss off 59% of the country, but you please the 30% of your voters that are evangelicals and REALLY want roe overturned. You can't piss off 59% of the country and still win elections, but for the GOP you can't have evangelicals pissed at you and win elections.

in other words, the situation is lose-lose for the GOP. its up to dems to prove this to people.
