The Loathing of Kerry and Division on the Left

This week, two Kossacks, Copernicus and CTKeith posted diaries in which they expressed their loathing of Kerry than man and Kerry the politician. They dislike Kerry for his various stances on Iraq and Israel, among other thing. Indeed, I know that there are others on this site with similar feelings.

What I gather is that both feel Kerry is not liberal enough or progressive enough for these Kossacks. Kerry doesn't attack Bush and his policies enough to satisfy them. Kerry's positions are not good enough for them.

What I want to discuss today is what does Kerry have to do to win their support? And if Kerry does do these things, will they wholeheartedly support Kerry and euthanistically campaign for him?

I DO NOT WANT this to turn into another troll and flame war. If Copernicus or CTKeith or any other Kossack with these feelings concerning Kerry posts a reply answering this question that is not insulting to other Kossacks, the Democratic Party or Kerry, then they do not deserve to be troll rated. This goes for Copernicus and CTKeith or anyone else having similar feelings.

I am looking for an intelligent and CIVIL discussion between those who still have problems with Kerry and those who will support Kerry. I want to identify where divisions still exist on the left and what might be done to mend them so that we can all work together.
