Dear Honorable Representative Baker:
It is time our country respects our constitution again and stops allowing our political leader to commit grand larceny in the name of party politics.
I learned tonight that George W. Bush has stolen $700 Million in funding appropriated for the effort in Afghanistan in order to build bases in Kuwait in order to wage war on an enemy which we did not have concrete proof on. I urge you to immediately obtain a copy of 60 Minutes and view with your own eyes the degree to which our government has become de-legitimized. It is saddening, that as I struggle to work and purchase a home in Baton Rouge, our country is run by a man who has such blatant disregard for our constitution and the separation of powers. It is clear that "All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives" (Section 7, Clause 1). Spending such money on Kuwaiti bases outside the bounds allowed by the budget passed for the Afghani war is an IMPEACHABLE OFFENSE, and as my Representative, I DEMAND YOU to stand up for our democracy and our Constitution. Under Section 8, Clause 12, Congress is given sole authority to "raise and support armies." 200 years of wars and blood have protects the rights we enjoy in our country today. 702 troops have died in Iraq for a cause started by with a blatant trampling of the Constitution. It is your duty as a Representative to protect our sacred Constitution.
You MUST Protect our your congressional right to appropriate funding and immediately call for Censure, if not full Impeachment of President Bush. It is clear that a very defined law has been broken, and it is a matter of Federal Legitimacy that you immediately investigate such a grand larceny, done in the name of national defense and upon the tears of the 9/11 widows.
The Money for Afghanistan was approved with the emotions created by 9/11 in our justified war on Terror against the Taliban. President Bush Stole from this money to build bases, ready a war against Saddam Hussein on tenuous grounds at best, and take an opportunity to conduct this war.
I Implore to your convictions as a protectorate of your constituency to see to it that the men who violated this law and our Constitution are prosecuted to the fullest extent allowed under the law.
I appreciate any comment you may have, and apologize if I am overly direct. You must understand that I am IRATE at the thought of our President breaking with Constitution mandates in order to wage war.
Respectfully,
Steven R
