Arlen Specter (R) RUNNING FOR REELECTION
This is the closest Republican Primary in the nation.
Latest Primary poll (link is a PDF) has Specter beating Toomey 50-44 with a 4.5% MOE.
Since there is a heated primary battle, little attention has been paid to the GE race against Hoeffel (D) yet. However, a recent poll has 44% wanting a new Senator vs. 36% wanting Specter reelected. I have not seen a recent poll that comparies Toomey vs. Hoeffel or Specter vs. Hoeffel. As of now, I have assumed that this seat will remain Republican.

There are no polls available for this race against potential Democratic challengers Sowell or Swanson, but I think it is a safe bet that Shelby is reelected.
Louisiana
John Breaux (D) RETIRING
Damn Louisiana and its weird French style Open Primaries. For that reason, I have omitted Louisiana from my analysis. In my opinion, if it's a runoff between Vitter and John, John wins and the seat remains Democratic. The combined Democratic vote right now vs. Vitter is 36 to 30. I guess the rest is undecided. Anyway here is the latest poll

Jim Bunning (R) RUNNING FOR REELECTION
Bunning (R) 52
Mongiardo (D) 23
Now, I would love to see a poll after Bunning's unfortunate remarks. His 52 seems really low to me for a state like Kentucky. Is he not well liked? Have his remarks hurt him further?

John McCain (R) RUNNING FOR REELECTION
Wow. McCain has Republican opposition. While there is no poll for the GE, you will be pleased to know that McCain is trouching his primary opponents 66-11-8. Apparently there are also Democratic challengers Michael, Janikowski and Starky, but polls on their race either.
I think McCain is safe.
