Take my poll to see if you think Toomey is right.
Don't worry, Toomey isn't physic nor does he have a divine connection to the Almighty. He just watched the weather report this morning on Channel 10 with Bill Henley. It is supposed to rain on Tuesday. And since voter turnout will be key, and since light voter turnout would help Toomey, it would appear that Toomey has every reason to be confident.
Other Pennsylvania political thoughts:
First, further down in this article, it is noted that Toomey is fond of saying that he represents "the Republican wing of the Republican Party." Someone sound ask him if he is crediting Howard Dean for that phrase or is it a common practice for him to steal slogans.
Second, The 13th Congressional District. There are interesting primaries in both parties to replace retiring Congressman Joe Hoeffel (D), who is leaving to run for Senate. On the Republican side, it is the Anne Coulter evil look a like Melissa Brown, MD vs. State Rep. Ellen Bard. Ok, yeah Dr. Brown doesn't really look that much like Anne Coulter, but she is just as evil. Find out more about their pitched battle here.
On the Democratic side it is State Sen. Allyson Schwartz vs. former Philly Deputy Mayor Joe Torsella. Apparently the Schwartz campaign has conducted an internal poll that shows her leading Torsella 33% to 20%.
This lead expands when leaners are included, to 46% to 29%. This might be due to the FEC trouble Torsella is finding himself in recently. Sam Youngman, one of the contributors to the Politics PA site, writes that some Torsella filings show apparent FEC violations. Apparently he has received several thousand dollars illegally from unregistered PACs. The campaign states that they were unaware of any violations and are looking into it and will fix the problem.
Finally, I always have a problem with using legal challenges to eliminate potential competitors, no matter if the candidate doing it is a Democrat. State Rep. Rosita Youngblood of Philly has used court challenges to eliminate three rivals from the race
