We've all noticed that when the polls came out in April, the talking heads on TV made a different spin depending on how it leaned. If Bush was up 1 or 2 points, "Bush Leading" was the headline. If Kerry was up 2 or 3 points, "Deadheat race" was the headline.
Now, Kerry has a 3-6 point lead between the Pew, Gallup polls, and watching TV this afternoon, I see no mention on any of the network news shows. The headline should read, "Weak Bush Slipping to Kerry" but instead it reads something like this... ____
Does this bother me? A Bit. But really, since when does the horserace change minds? An earlier diary pointed out that the tipping point may have come and gone, and is the media just having trouble coming to terms with this? Dear Leader is now losing, straight up, and Fox News has mysteriously stopped releasing polls all together. And today's Police Union Endorsement of Kerry, that should be huge news. It's a slap in the face of Dear Leader's war on terra, and a sign of things to come.
But instead, the media is silent, and talking heads are still saying that Kerry is 'out of touch; ineffective; no clear message; non-starter' while the latest poll on their network has him at 51%. In any country, including a country with a selective Supreme Court, 51% is a fucking lead and I wish the press would recognize it and kill the slow starting Kerry Meme once and for all.
