Last Saturday we Washingtonians held a caucus to select delegates for the Democratic Presidential nominee. The next level of delegate selection is on May 1st, a few months away. It was a new experience for me, and from what I am gathering from neighbor folk, quite a few people attended their first caucus that day. I just happened to be selected precinct captain, mainly because no one else really wanted the job. We had seven people representing my precinct, and we could pledge five delegates. At the next level, we will go and pledge our delegate and if he has dropped out, then we will be free to choose another viable candidate. What if Dean holds on till May 1st and is able to pick up the delegates for any or all candidates who have dropped out, or maybe he picks up the undecided counts? Hmmm...just a thought or two on what could happen here in WA.
