I've been unable to find a transcript, unfortunately, but he was on Inside Politics yesterday and shocked me at how strong an advocate he is for Kerry.
First Kucinich blasted Bushco for trying to trap Kerry on his Iraq vote. Kucinich said: "This is Bush's war. This is Bush's blunder. He can't blame anyone else. Kerry is the only hope we have of being successful in Iraq and getting our troops home. He's our only hope."
Then he was asked to respond to Cheney's attack on the "sensitive" bit. He said a couple of not terribly memorable things and then the real attack came: "And by the way, Vice President Cheney made that speech in Ohio, in my home state where we've lost a quarter of a million jobs, and he did not mention "jobs" once. Not once! All he did was come here to make a ridiculous attack and try to distract us from the real issues."
There are some Kerry communication aides who could learn a thing or two from that interview. Kucinich stood up for Kerry better than anyone I've heard in the last week. I realize that people outside the campaign can say things that those inside the campaign cannot say, but I'm tired of the deer-in-the-headlights look every time they are asked about Kerry's stupid "authority" reaffirmation. It's their job to turn the tables on Bush, not to stumble through a defense of the position.
