The Bush-Cheney campaign accuses Senate Democrats of blocking a Bush energy plan that would increase petroleum drilling and energy conservation and provide new tax breaks and other incentives to spur exploration and production.
[snip]
Cheney advocated increasing domestic oil production in wildlife areas in Alaska and other regions that are off-limits to development.
I will address our Vice President directly.
Mr. Cheney, drilling for more oil in ANWAR, or off the Florida and California coasts is NOT an energy policy. It is the last resort policy. It is a policy for those either with no imagination, or for those only concerned about profits for oil companies. Having an energy policy refers to reforming and modernizing our energy producing capacity so that 1) our production of energy is cleaner for the environment; and 2) that we find an energy source that is both clean and unexhaustable.
Mr. Cheney, your energy policy has only been to push for the right to open up ANWR for exploratory drilling, and for renewed drilling elsewhere.
That is at best a short term and unsatisfying solution to any energy crisis. It is a stop gap measure. A continuing resolution, if you will. Having an energy policy refers to having a policy for the future, not just for today's profits.
Therefore, it is you, Mr. Cheney, and your shortsightedness and singlemindedness for oil profits, that is responsible for rising gas and oil prices. Your invasion of Iraq and ignorance of the Israeli-Palestinian peace process has destablized the Middle East, thus raising concern among OPEC members about the sustainability of production, which has led to oil prices being $44 dollars a barrel.
You are responsible Mr. Cheney, and I would appreciate that you stop lying about us Democrats.
No go Cheney yourself.
